... that is actually ridiculous. what has he done wrong? i doubt his wages are huge. I know he isnt great, but we do seem to be forcing him out.
I agree - he's great in the air from set peices and his defensive shortcomings don't seem beyond being corrected by good coaching ... particularly from a manager who was a centre-half ! .. this one beats me I'm baffled ... selling him for a £400k loss looks nuts ... warnock isn't wanting to sign him because he's crap!
pearson is the manager..let him manage, if he fails, its his career that goes down the swanee.. what is the alernative? not to do what he thinks is required ? HE has to answer to the owners..if we all knew better than him we would be in charge but we don't ...we don't always have the full facts either..for good reasons...why is it all these players become fantasic when they might leave? when they collectively failed last season...to bring people in others have to go, at the best deal available in the circumstances..
I fully agree with the first half of your post ... but I for one haven't claimed any of the prospective leavers to be fantastic .. indeed the only one I just don't get is the Peltier situation (if, of course, it transpires to be true)... we'd be making a £400k loss selling a player to (rivalries aside for a moment) a big club and potential promotion rival? ..... as you say there must be more to it ... has NP got any teenage daughters? ... cheap shot I know .... but stranger things have happened
.. and Mills is a 'fantastic defender' ........ have a word with yourself AKCJ ... I know which one I'd rather be rid of...
If pearson wants somebody else in then what should he do? keep peltier on big wages not playing ,an unhappy member of the squad ,damaging team spirit ? cos we must get a couple of hundred grand more? the art of management is making hard unpopular decisions for the greater good in the long run..
Pelts is like Messi on the ball in comparison to Mills ...... and his strength was not his defending to be fair ... it was getting forward from a defensive position but also being a threat in the opposition penalty area from set pieces ........ the difference is that with coaching he could still have a lot of potential .... Mills has, IMHO, reached his zenith career wise .... and if he becomes an established prem regular I will run naked through the streets of Hull carrying a 'please maul me Tiggers' bill board .... (similar to Bruce willis in Harlem in one of the Die Hard films)...
Agreed ... but as you say ... if Pelts is guilty as charged it is not readily apparent ... unlike with Mills and Beckford ... I'd also be surprised if he was on mega bucks given he only cost £750k and came from L1 ... but who knows.
Proud - I've no idea on the stats but how many penalties did Pelts give away compared to Mills and Konchesky .. and how many red cards for each ?....
We'll agree to disagree then. Personally I think you'll be hard pushed to find a defender who will successfully win as many headers and tackles as him (i.e. A fantastic defender). I'm not saying Mills is a good enough player because of course his passing, dribbling, leadership and his discipline is akin to that of a 6 year old. What talent does Peltier have? He's good for freekicks and corners? Didn't he score one last season? Personally I think they're both wasting our time but Mills is a player we'll be able to command a bigger fee for IMO
You last point is very subjective as I'm sure you know ... I can readily say that Mills was directly costly in games away at Birmingham and Hull ... in both we seemed comfortable until he had a 'rush of blood' .... I can't say the same in terms of Pelts ... maybe you feel you can ... but I doubt it will be as 'obvious' i.e attributable to him solely rather than to poor team defending.. and won't have involved him being sent off .. Football is about opinions of course; mine is that I think Peltier at this point in time has greater potential as a footballer than either Mills or Konchesky ... I'm happy to agree to disagree with those that think otherwise ..
Can't argue with any of that mate ... and yes, Pelts got us all 3 points at Coventry on the opening day for one thing ...
I agree. But do we have time to allow another season with Peltier playing like he did last season? I personally don't think he has the potential to be as good consistently as Koncheskey was last season but obviously i'd love to be proven wrong.
Its Pearsons way or the highway, this will be another Max Gradel, personally i dont think we should get rid either.
A thread about who the most awful defender is at the Leicester? Pretty much shows where we are as a club. I said at the end of last season, there are only about six players I desperately want us to keep - Marshall, Nugent, Kasper, Drinkwater, Morgan & Danns (who started to show promise towards the end of the season). The rest of the squad is average-poor or too expensive for what they are, so happy to get rid....as long as they're replaced.
