Very very sick apparently https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...gend-Pele-moved-palliative-care-hospital.html Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family - the greatest ever footballer.
Pele 'moved to end of life care' after severe turn in Brazil legend's health Pele has reportedly been moved into palliative care. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1704868/Pele-end-life-care-Brazil-legend ( Already headlined but message remains) Really is a hero from my era, one of the best football players to have ever lived, have a peaceful ending, you deserve it.
All though it's a bit of a blur now I have to admit that I was the luckiest man on the planet way back in 1964 when I saw him play for Santos in Brazil. My ship M.V. Durango was in port for 2 nights and I was taken by one of the local dock workers to see a young man who was to be crowned the greatest player ever to grace the sport of football. I clearly remember the incredible save by Gordon Banks on a shot by Pele who had the grace to call it the greatest save he ever saw. Above all he is a gentleman who accepts defeat with grace and respect, but his footballing brain is what sets him apart from the rest. There are people in all sports who are always 2 steps ahead of everyone else and that's what makes them superstars and Pele was certainly in that mould. Words cannot even begin to voice my hurt at his current medical condition and my thoughts go out to his family and the greater Brazilian population, to whom he will always be a hero extraordinaire.
