@SkyNewsBreak: AFP: hospital says Brazil football legend #Pelé is in intensive care with condition worsening All the best pele
Looks like something got lost in translation, he's in a 'special care' unit, but he's expected to be out of hospital in the next few days.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30236553 "I was simply relocated to a special room within the hospital for privacy purposes only" Seems like special care = nicer room for the famous man
I must be a heartless bastard as even when this was reported as potentially terminal I was a bit "meh". What happened to Phil Hughes upset me a lot more. ****ing tragic that.
Don't see it as heartless tbh. The simple fact is that old people get UTIs and other infections all the time, and some of them die from it. I don't see why the fact that he is famous should make his condition any more serious than anyone else's. A young man being killed by a freak accident on the other hand is a genuine tragedy imo.
I thought it was pointless starting an RIP thread to be honest, was a little surprised the test match thread on the Pool board wasn't bumped. Can't say how gutted I am about what happened, as a big cricket follower. You don't expect to die playing cricket, it's beyond words. Nor do you expect to kill someone in doing your job when you're 22 years old. It is mind numbing.
