Pele without doubt is the most over-rated footballer in the history of the game. Pele played along side far better and humble footballers in Jair, Rivelino, Jarzinho, Didi, Vava, Garrincha, Tostao, Carlos Alberto etc. Even Emile Heskey would have looked half-decent playing with these greats. Now Im not saying Pele is that bad but Pele stole the headlines from his more talented and humble team-mates. Pele was the media darling and because he spoke English quickly adapted to becoming FIFAs poster boy. Pele moved to America on an extortionate salary and played in the MLS.

Pele might have scored over 1000 career goals but lets be honest here...the Brazilian national league as well as the various state leagues are played almost all year around and often in the state leagues Pele was playing against very third-rate teams often featuring carpenters and farmers. Pele being the greatest goalscorer in history is laughable and its just like saying Ali Daei from Iran is the greatest ever internation striker just because he has scored the most international goals.

After retiring Pele has continued being FIFAS poster boy and now he is Sepp Blatter and Jack Warners lapdog puppet ambassador travelling the globe and talking absolute rubbish. Its laughable.

Theres also another thing about Pele - His character. Pele tries to come across as holier than thou but in my opinion he has absolutely no credibility - for instance that disgusting attack he made on Robinho and the very great Ronaldo . Here below is the link:

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2335072/Robinho-outrage-at-Peles-drug-slur.html

He made Ronaldo and Robinho out to be druggies. Its so disorientated from Pele and awful.

Then there was that awful 125 greatest ever footballers list where he picked ridiculous names and left out real greats like Gerson, Tostao, Tom Finney and Denis Law and instead included El Hadji-Diouf, Hong Myung-Bo etc. It was utterly laughable. Gerson tore up the list live on Brazilian TV

I have alot of time for Scolari and he was blunt and honest of how the Brazilian players didnt want to meet Pele and that Pele should never be taken seriously. The link is below:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/2144176.stm

Pele also committed brutal play on the pitch too. In 1964 when Argentina defeated Brazil 3-0 in the Maracana (Rattin had Pele in his backposcket)Pele viciously and violently head-butted a poor Argentinian players nose and split it wide open.

Who can forget Peles nostradamus like precitions like Colombia winning the 1994 world cup, an African nation winning the world cup before 2000 and hailing Nicky Butt as the player of the 2002 world cup.

These days Pele travels the globe as Blatter/Warners lapdog puppet ambassador.

Pele never ever raises serious issues or comments on the state of the game today and issues like video technology...instead he loves to play the lapdog to the Blatter cabal. Pele is a charlatan of the highest order

Diego might have his faults and he does fight his demons and I love and respect people who fight and struggle and work hard to overcome their demons but what I love about Diego is he is so passionate about the game and his country that Diego would never bow to the Blatter cabal and actually speak out in what he believes to be the best for the game we all love.

In 2000 FIFA decided to conduct a worldwide poll to find out who the footballing public thought was the greatest footballer of the 20th century. The overwhelming mass majority of the footballing public from Peru to China and from Alaska to Australia and Siberia voted for Maradona as the greatest footballer of the 20th century. FIFA embarassed that their expected poster boy Pele was voted second best by an overwhelming majority decided to host a farcical journalists panel (FIFA-Affiliated journalists and media) who voted for Pele as the greatest. In a very farcical ceremony Maradona had to share the greatest player of the 20th century award with FIFA's poster boy.

The media then claimed that the public vote couldent count because they claimed that the majority of votes for Maradona came from Argentina.

Totally agree. Pele beleives his own hype.

Maradona was right, he belongs in a Museum.

Maradonna, Messi, Zidane, Cryuff, Best, Fat ronaldo etc all better than him.

He actually had the audacity to say he was better than messi.

Behave, he played in a garbage league and thinks hes the best of all time. He shoudl have a day off.

Having read all that, I have to say I agree. There are players that prove themselves to the human eye, not to the stats they create. Those players will be always better than Pele.

    lol jk

    Utter ****ing bollocks.

Seen this ****e posted on 606 by the OP on numerous occasions.

He just hates Pele so pay no attention to him. He also uses his sexuality against him in many posts.

The Brazilian league during Peles time was also producing the best players in the world as a collective team so frankly dismissing it as full of farmers is bullshit.

Also Pele wasnt a crack head like Maradonna which would be the reason hes fifas ambassador not the Argie **** who was a much a cheat as he was a fantastic player.

**** Argentina anyway. Brazil are the greatest team ever and Pele is there greatest player so your entire post in null and void.

Pele was one of the great footballing talents so who cares if he is a little arrogant, he backed it up. Having said that I still think Maradona is the greatest talent to grace a football pitch. The things that man could do with a ball are nothing short of genius, it's just a pity he liked drugs as much as he liked football.

How often was this two bob league producing some of the all time greats and how many world champions has that country produced?

    Please Stretty, remind us?

You may also notice a link between Pele playing for brazil and it being their golden era and then him retiring and Brazil going 24 years without a World Cup win.

So Stretty, how much of a fail was your post? Big I would say.

Its sort of like me saying Messi plays against 2 bob players week in week out. Its true mind as compared to him they are pretty much 2 bob players. Pele of course did it on the world stage aswell which sort of debunks the myth he only did it against 2 bob players and Messi does it against the big European teams.

Its in the Sun Nohlman lol. Its probably made up.

Also Peles 3 WC medals is a record I think.

None won on Europe mind which is a point Peles haters like to use........forgetting that Crack Head never won one in Europe either and Messi just hasnt won one at all.
