Bit of a sweeping statement I hear you say. Simple fact is the bloke is a cock, a flaccid cock just like the ones he did that advert for. Whenever anyone has the temerity to question the notion that he is the greatest man on earth ever to have played football he comes out with a right pile of nonsense. His latest one was when asked if Messi is better than he was . He said Messi would have to be better than Neymar first, which in his opinion he isn't. What sort of answer is that? A bit of humility and modesty go a long way and Pele has neither. Maradonna was better, which in another thing he gets his knickers in a twist about. The man lacks class. Rant over.
He thinks alot of Neymar obviously for nationality sake, but Brazilians have a strong hatred to Argentinians, Maradonna thinks Messi is the best player in the world and probaly thinks Neymar is ****e.
you can't use quality in one sphere to infer qualities in other spheres. he may or may not have been the best player ever. i personally don't believe maradonna was.
Neymar needs to play in Europe if he's going to get into contention for the world's best player, but as he's got a goal scoring rate of 1 in 2 for his club and his country, he's not doing too bad for a twenty year old. Pele was definitely better than that Argentinian dwarf, but I think years from now, he'll probably end up behind Messi in the pecking order.
The argument seems to be that Messi needs to do what he does for Barca on the world stage before he can be considered better than Pele and Maradona. I can see some logic in that
Pele's greatest moments were all misses. The shot from half way, the time he dummied the keeper and he even missed that sitter when our Gordan got a hand to it. Maradoughnut for me every day of the week.
The only reason Pele's misses are famous, is because there were so few of them, he scored 620 in 661 games at club level and 77 in 92 for Brasil, Madge doesn't even come close.
This is a fatally floored idea. The champions league is a harder competition than the World Cup for a start and look at the teams that were anyway near contention when Pele and Maradona were playing, and of course the players that played around them. Messi has to perform on the big stage when there is a much more level playing field internationally. Not only the emergence of a plethora of African nations that can compete and have players playing in the highest echelons of the game, but the rise of the eastern european countries, America, Australia, Japan from being easy pickings in international football to much more established and trickier opponents. In short, Messi wouldnt need to win the world cup to be considered the best player ever.
Messi needs to shine for Argentina where he is not surrounded by the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas.
He's not popular in Argentina I read once, can't remember why that was but could be down to his background. He was rubbish in the last world cup but then so were a few others.
He makes some funny comments sometimes, I remember him thinking Nicky Butt was the best player for England a few years back.
He can't just keep clinging to this nonsense that everyone Brazilian is better than anyone foreign. The things Messi does are just ridiculous even now when defences and particularly keepers are so much better than in Pele's day.
Was it this? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/27/lionel-messi-argentina Apparently they call him 'The Catalan'
He also said Emile Heskey was one of the best players at the World Cup in Japan. Not just one of our best players but in the whole tournament. He's ****ing clueless.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. No doubt that Diego is a bellend it's just that Pele is a bigger one who was massively over rated. IMO.
