Stuart Pearce has been named as British Men's Olympic football manager. Hope Powell will coach the girlie team.

Just shows we're not taking it seriously in my opinion. Not sure who'll be in the team, would like to see Becks get a game as a last hurrah as we've no hope of actually winning the thing.

Anyone who makes Jordan Henderson captain of any team is not fit to be a manager.

Didn't England U21's get to the final under Pearce?

I disagree with you. International football, much like any cup competition, is about raising your game when it matters. Who'd you want giving your team talk, Fabio 'sounds like the cleaning lady off family guy' Capello or Stuart 'blood sweat tears' Pearce?

****ing Pearce all day long in my opinion! He won't have time to drill the players on tactics, formations and defending, but he'll have 10 minutes to conjure up images of Sir Bobby's '86 and '90s team, Jackie Charlton's Ireland team, Archie Gemmel's Brazilian flair and <insert great moment in Welsh football history>???

We're on our home turf, we'll have the crowd and the atmosphere. Passion and pride is what I want...I'd rather go out of the tournament ala 1990 WC than pick up a ****ty bronze with a tame if reasonably well organised display!

Pearce has considerably more passion than Crapello and would get my vote.

I'd rather Pearce than a test run of 'Arry Redknapp, plus up to this summer his U21 work has been perfectly decent.

Now if only they'd release some bloody tickets, amateur hour doesn't even cover it.

Wasnt much of a surprise, if Alex Ferguson wasnt going for it, theres not many i would rather have a go at this then Pearce.

Not many countries take the football part seriously though and i doubt we'll field the best team possible...

Hopefully the football will be better than the rubbish he made the U21s play last tournament.

Also, wonder if he'll try and be diplomatic and pick more Scottish, Welsh, etc... just to make the numbers even?

Walcott with Milner and Johnson benchwarming, versus Neuer, Boateng, Khedira, Ozil, and ignoring those who didn't play in that final like Muller, Kroos and Badstuber. A quick wikipedia at the current ages of the German national team and their success puts us to shame.
