Was surprised to see him take it, but he's the one I'd want up there. Most of our past penalty heroes have been natural goalscorers, but the primary criteria is that they be your best (and most consistent) striker of the ball, and JWP is that.

Bit early to be suggesting that I reckon! But it was a top penalty and I was relieved when he stood up to take it. Wasn't confident in Mane taking it, especially after a poor game.

Good, but was also nearly saved. Good power meant it went in.

No. Keepers hardly ever got near Rickie's. If they were stupid enough to get a hand to it, it still went in and they had a very sore hand afterwards. :)

Was sadio subbed for sulking that he couldn't take it ? Great pen though, hate tadic's as they trickle in.

Yep, Koeman said afterwards that he went against Team orders.

He didn't go full Balotelli as Fonte clearly rules the roost and gave the ball to JWP without too much fuss. He wasn't having a great afternoon, so the substitution was not too tough a decision for Ron. Though he was still our brightest forward player to that point

You're contradicting yourself. Keepers are always going to at least nearly save it if they guess the right way. The power & placement are the key

It went in...I'd have taken a Kelvin Davis toe punt with his eyes closed at that point.

Not if you hit it as hard and accurately as Rickie did. It's silly to compare JWP and Rickie. Rickie was and is an awesome penalty taker. JWP is some way off his standard.
