I think at the time it was made out that the agent had ruined the deal because if I was to look back for the thread in the summer I remember the Peterborough chairman saying it was agreed but then the agent went back on the deal and wanted to change it. However on the subject of Jack Payne all I can do is thank him for his service I am gutted that he has gone.

Hoadie - just for clarity, I remember what happened at the time and Jack Payne's name was never actually mentioned by the Posh Chairman.

Yeah I think many people assumed if was him then as he said a player he regarded as one of the best in the lower leagues.

It appears that Jack admits to talking to the Posh in the summer, so it appears despite Harry's words you are technically correct even if you have no proof to the agent link, however, like you I do remember comments about an agent from the Posh Chairman. Although a specific player name was NEVER mentioned. Bit of a massive coincidence though if only that!

Darragh McAnthony (peteborough chairman) stated on the night that he signed that they tried getting him in the summer on his twitter. I think Darren Ferguson also said it on the day they signed him.
