Pay Up (for) Pompey? For Pompey, Pay Up?

Discussion in 'Southampton' started by Schad, Jan 22, 2012.

?

Should Saints save Pompey, if it comes to that?

  1. Pay up for Pompey!

  2. Let our fishy friends flounder!

  3. I just don't know anymore!

This morning brings news that Portsmouth owes HMRC £1.6m, and is potentially in imminent danger of being wound up. If possible, would you support Saints donating the funds to keep Pompey alive if the alternative was the demise of the club and rivalry?

PFC is toxic and needs to be left to die now.

That is a very generous question Schad.

If it were up to me.......... which it isn't unfortunately, I wouldn't accept any donation to keep the club going as it is. But I would accept a donation to fund a very in-depth forensic investigation into the goings-on at the club from the day Mandaric sold the club and get to the bottom of the crimes that have been committed. Somebody needs to pay for this - so far they've all managed to walk away from the ruins.

Chanrai needs to take a hit for his "foolishness" in lending money to somebody who doesn't even exist, if that was even the case, and there are doubts about that. The PL & FL need to be investigated for their parts in allowing such dodgy owners to take over the club even though the fans had serious doubts.

That might be the only way to make changes to the way football is run in this country and force other owners to be more transparent.

I don't want the club to fold - but if it is going to then it needs to go with a bang and not a whimper.

    That's just my own view.

I don't want them to go out of business, I want them to survive - it's always a sad day in football when a club is wound up, especially our dearest rivals who we need

Are you crazy?!?! did they try to save us? no, they laughed, laughed, and laughed some more at our plight... they didn't give a toss. Go back and read old articles on the echo and just look at the comments on there, they would love to see it happen to us again and wouldn't give a flying damn.

why should we care about them?

and in the case of other football clubs such as Darlington, football would've lost something that brought benefits to english football... but what benefits do Pompey bring?

they represent everything wrong with football in it's current state, cheating on a financial playing field to buy players they can't afford and racking up bills they can't sustain, if my father said no to paying his 5k tax bill he'd be put in prison and his business shut down... end of. So why can a football club get away with it?! how can a business trade insolvent like Pompey have?! it doesn't happen but Pompey live in their alternate reality. Time for them to face up to reality!

They represent hooliganism... just look at the south coast derby, look at the way they acted... animals, total animals, the fact that they have the YOUNGEST HOOLIGAN in England, and the second youngest too!

If I had done the following:

    1) had a fundraiser with the teenage cancer trust and then taken the money and ran
    2) left local businesses struggling by not paying for products and services
    3) had a 1.6m tax bill that I didn't want to pay
    4) had millions in assets but refused to give a single one to creditors

I'd be in prison... for a LONG LONG TIME!

a hooligan club with hooligan fans, with crooks running the show and a club that show no compassion to us at all, they hate us for christs sake.

Portsmouth football club is a cancer... HMRC is radiotherapy and the creditors is Chemo... and now they want to bring in a surgeon (court case) to cut the tumour off english football. Let the surgeon do his work and stop feeding the cancer!

I said at the beginning of the season that PFC were no longer our rivals and it looks as if I am soon to be proved absolutely spot on.

Reading and Brighton are our local derbies from here on in.

I have to agree with you.......I know I'm a Saints fan.......but I am having difficulty in understanding how they seem to go from buyer to buyer, from catastrophe to catastrophe. Yet there is no one who is taking the responsibility, further more, no one that can take the responsibility. Every one that has owned them seems to disappear off the face of the earth. I would have thought that the Football authorities have a part to play in their downfall by not doing there job properly. I am surprised the supporters haven't got together to engage legal representation as to the authorities failure to do their job properly. I am convinced there is a case to be answered for that.

    Come now.
There are people who need to pay, there is also a club that needs to hit the bottom before it can start to rebuild, but they still need to be there. I don't want them folding, what good would that do? Chainrai, Gaydemak & a couple other need to lose what ever money they have tied up in the club. The players still raping the club, they need cutting loose. Appleton probably needs a season building in League to have a fair crack next season, but to fold, HELL NO!

    **** 'em.

It's like something from the Walking Dead. A rotting Zombie of a club, stinking up the country, with even it's own supporters deserting it.

    It needs putting down.

If a new club springs up, clean and well run by fans, then I wish them all the luck in the world. But in it's current incarnation, Pompey is rotton to the core.

I wouldn't give money to the present regime even if I was a Pompey fan. I do feel sorry for their fans because most of them are not hate-filled and just love their club and enjoy rivalry, but my advice to Pompey fans would be: save your hard-earned dosh for a Pompey Mk II which could start again in non-league. You could get a lot more pleasure from that than lurching from one crisis to another.

No ****ing way, **** them. They tortured us during our own financial turmoil and as could clearly been seen from the live game on bbc they have zero respect for us and you rarely see that kind of crap at football matches anymore. Also people seem to be very forgetful of the fact they threw the last game of 05 against West Brom to get us relegated. No **** them the footballing world would be better without them.

Who laughed at you when Southampton almost went out of business? I'm betting its the same kind of people we're getting at the moment laughing at Pompey. I certainly never laughed at Southampton's financial plight - I even cursed the Football League when it looked like you would go out of business when the stopped Le Tissier from taking over by refusing to be reasonable - and no true football fan ever wants to see any club go out of business because they put themselves in the position of that clubs fans and think about what it would be like if they were in that position themselves.

And as for comments on the Echo representing the opinions of the majority of Pompey fans, you should see the crap people calling themselves Southampton fans write on the Portsmouth News website. Its petty, purile and vile and I'm betting that's just as much that crap that goes on with the Echo.

And shut up about hooliganism. There was no violence or destruction at Fratton Park when Southampton came last December, the worse was foul language and insulting chant and the same thing would happen at almost every Derby match up and the down the country and around the world. Stop trying to act like that was a unique thing to Portsmouth.

Every team has fans who have lost all sense of proportion. It will be only a few people posting a lot. I want Pompey to survive but just be less successful than Saints (I like to call that the natural order of things:cheesy:), but this has surely gone too far. Time to start again.

I have never seen fans conduct themselves like they did at FP. It was a disgrace and you wouldn't see it from the classier side of the M27.

Oh come on........yes of course Pompey have there Morons, just as we do, as most clubs do. It is not the fans fault. The vast majority of Pompey fans did not want Saints to go down the Swanee. The same as most Saints fans don't want Pompey to go down now. The fans do not have a say in the financial side of the club. As for the Charity.....the fans made sure they didn't suffer any loss. As for the local businesses yes they suffered badly but that is what the administrator is there for. The bloody courts backed the agreement...so don't blame the fans. I agree about people taking responsibility and you are right there should be people held to account. But who........The footballers themselves.......? The fans......? No I don't think so. Certainly the football authorities perhaps have a part.......all the other buggers have disappeared without trace. Finally in answer to one question......What did Pompey do when we were down.......The answer is I don't know......however I can answer for around 50 of them........they were down St Mary's, Dipping there hands deep in their pockets putting money into the buckets that went round, I don't know how much except for my closest Pompey mates. Both put £50 quid each in that bucket.....How much did you put in?. All I'm saying is that not all....in fact not the majority... think the way you do......thankfully.

I was unaware of the story but googling it there was a link to a different forum where it was reported that about 15 Britsol City fans attacked a couple of Southampton fans and broke one of the Southampton fans cheekbones.

I'm going to take that as tongue-in-cheek comment from you because in no way, shape or form were Pompey fans last December behaving worse than the Scottish fans did when they trashed the old Wembley or the Turkish fans do when they light flares, start fires, throw any manner of rubbish on the pitch and even attack opposition fans.
