In a bid to increase attendances [and hence, revenue] isn't it about time clubs reverted to the old tried and tested method of turning up on match day to pay at the turn-stiles? This would allow a few mates at the pub on Saturday lunchtime, finding themselves at a loose end to decide "sod it, let's go to the match."
One or two "cash only" turnstiles, manned by stewards from 2-3pm could generate an extra few thousand quid for the coffers at each home fixture.

As they say at tesco's; "every little helps!"

  2. Totally agree. They are doing that at Upton park tonight to ensure a full house.

add to the fact that it could generate extra income, you could also pretend that no one paid cash, and pocket the dosh without paying any tax <whistle>..

The sort of owners we've had in recent years wouldn't dream of doing such a thing....

I do not understand why more clubs do not do this - it makes sense.
Having travelled to Milton Keynes for the match last season I noticed they has two cash turnstiles for away fans.
How many clubs can afford not to exploit this extra income. There are a number of people who will not (or cannot) order a ticket on line
and again will not travel to the ground in the week to buy a ticket.
Those who take in the odd game by going at the last minute might well become regulars.
When a club is desperate for money it surely makes sense to explore every avenue.
But who are we to suggest the obvious!!

Actually what you really need is a turnstile with a PDY machine. That way, after all the cash is spent on beer, it's "let's spoil our afternoon on credit"
