We have three strikers and the most under used is Pavlyuchenko. Roman Pavlyuchenko 2010/2011 Season Premier League Appearances 9 (6), Goals 5. Just three starts, six as a sub. and 5 goals. I am not basing my argument on stats. (never liked them) no it's the lack of starts that I am talking about here. I also don't want to get into Crouch bashing (there is too much of that already) but which ever way you look at it none of our strikers have been on fire. Most of our threat this season has come from VDV and Bale with Lennon coming back into the picture a bit more in the last couple of games. (Since Bale has been out! ) What we have lacked in many games is an in form striker to be in the right position to take advantage of the chances made. (Talk about obvious) We have all heard the arguments for and against all three strikers. My argument is that Pavlyuchenko is probably the most natural goalscorer of all of them. He is the one IMO with more inate ability to be in the right place at the right time. That's what he does. We have ten outfield players running their butts off for Harry most of the time. I think we could afford to try having nine running ragged if we have one who is in the right position at the right time to put the ball in the net. I would like to see the chance that has been given to Crouch extended to Pavlyuchenko. I don't think he has given been that chance yet. We paid a lot of money for him and pay his wages is it not time for us to give him a chance to show what he can do? Since I wrote this a report has appeared on Sky Sports News quoting Pavlyuchenko as saying he want's to leave Spurs. : "The way I see it, the manager just doesn't trust me and it doesn't matter if I play well, score goals or try my best in training - nothing will make him change his mind about me. "So I'm not going to extend my contract, which expires at the end of next season, and will try to leave the club over the summer transfer window. "Even when I do play well or score a goal, I don't get a chance in the next game. Quite frankly, I'm fed up with sitting on the bench and waiting for my chances."
When you read that quote of Pavs. it just dosen't sound like he would talk. Is it a translation or does he speak perfect English now?
This is what he actually said. Я должен играть больше игр, или я выброшу мои игрушки из коляски
Well he's home now,no doubt scoffing down shepherd's pie,Russian style. If he was so concerned, why didn't he put some effort in.If you have a lazy player,it's not too difficult to tick off his manager, ala Bent! Tottenham fans know about Bent as do Sunderland.Villa fans are finding him out now! Did Pav ever score a goal with his head?If he did,I don't remember!
His first few goals for the club were
Thank you Croydon.Memory goes these days!!!!! ...and look at that enthusiasm. That had certainly gone at the end!!!!!!! Perhaps it will return when he turns out for the choo choo's?
You have resurrected two threads today which were originally posted a year ago, this one and the van der vaart one. It's quite unusual behaviour.
Sorry if I've confused you all. But I do have moment's of madness, almost like the Goons manager......but I WILL ADMIT THAT AND I DON'T THROW WATER BOTTLES! By the way.West Spam won again.Do we get our 6 points back next season?
