    So why is there a marked difference between certain areas?

    Pretty sure NI and Scotland don't have much of a difference in life expectancy.

    If there's no family then surely it's up to the community to do their bit.

    I'm fairly certain that all 2.5k or so of these cases are due to people putting their assets in trust for their children to avoid inheritance tax.

    Youre missing the real issue here. Isn't it enough getting robbed every day of your ****ing life, without having funeral directors plundering your estate just to put you in the ground? No funeral at all for me. I have arranged to be left out by the bins, where my scumbag neighbours leave their pissy mattresses. Let the council deal with that.
