When Sousa was here all he did was made a good players crap. Weale, Hobbs, Morrison, Fryatt, Berner, Waghorn all suffered under Paulo and havent been the same players since Saying that Paulo did help Andy King alot
^ NP made king, sousa just stopped him from declining along with the others. King only helped by making the team so dependant on his goals to win! Sousa ruined waghorn. Not sure what happened to fryatt- i think the formation ruined him- he has to play off a big man to be effective. Morrison was never that good, but always played well- NP is that type of manager. Sven is a class and not form manager. Personally i prefer NP style, but sven has attracted a lot of players who NP couldnt have. Hobbs was certaily ruined by sousa- very disapointing for us, huge loss- thought he would be the constant of our back line for the next 10 years. Weale... did he shrink?! Steady keeper whos arms just arent long enough! Berners legs went.
Yes it's fair to say most players regressed under Sousa. King and Neilson were the only ones who improved, and in King's case I just think that was down to his own natural progression. Morrison was a horror show and that was partly because he was being played at centre back where he was totally out of his depth. At right back he was very decent under Pearson and even at that time it was clear that he was much better there than in the centre. As for his black eye, I seem to recall the strong rumous suggested it was either Hobbs or Fryatt...
One thing i remember which i found a bit strange last season was when we lost to Norwich at Carrow road the whole team got kept back in the changing room for a ear bashing except Jack Hobbs who was on the pitch. I remember Stringer saying he would try and find out what happen but never did and Paulo was sacked a few days later. So maybe there was more to that then what was let on. As soon as Sven could replace Hobbs he did and got rid of him straight away. Maybe Hobbs had an ego who knows
