Hi guys - supporter of another team who play in blue (again at last thank fck).

We vaguely know a little bit about him across the Bridge through his international appearances, but he was with you guys for a few years as player and eventually manager eh? We also know he's been with Hughton as an assistant, but you should have the inside track on him from when he was with you as manager.

Looks like the guy is heading over here as a coach for us to support our present arsehole in chief a certain Mr. Slade. Our current assistant arsehole Scott Young is likely to receive the enema and move to one side to accommodate him. Hopefully the present arsehole in chief will likewise receive the necessary irrigation treatment.

Now I'm not the vindictive type, but has Trollope got the balls (and knowledge) to deliver the necessary enema up our arsehole in chief who's driving us all round the bend over here with his 3rd rate tactical stuff?

We're not asking for a genius - just someone who knows how to get 11 players on the park to look interested in the game and attempt to bloody win it rather than make some other **** teams look good. For instance, does he know how to get players to pass the ball as Slade seems to think that two players passing a football to one another anything less than a 40 yard punt is cissy.

Opinions would be gratefully appreciated as there is no substitute for experience. Ta.

Opinions will be divided on this one.
As manager he had a respectable win % of 37+, got us promoted
via play-offs from L2, took us to a JPT final and to the QF of the
FA Cup. Arguably our most successful manager ever.
Detractors will say that much of that was down to the presence of
Lennie Lawrence as DoF, and that when Lennie went it all started to
    go pear-shaped.
Agreed opinion seems to be that he is a good coach, not quite cut out
for flying solo as a manager...though time may have added wisdom!
As coach his time with Hughton was mainly successful for a lesser top
    tier side.
He always came across as a decent bloke to me...and there are Welsh
    connections; he played 9 times.
I'd be glad to see him back in the game. He'll be a thorough and painstaking
assistant, and could 'hold the fort' if Slade goes.

Cheers pirate - we had Lennie for a while over here - thoroughly nice bloke and a footballing brain to go with it.

Our present "assistant" to Slade was forced upon him to be fair. Scott Young is an old CCFC player with the heart of a lion, but the footballing brain of an amoeba.

It will be very interesting to see if Trollope can bring some sense to it all, because at the moment, it makes no sense at all over here.

    What Pirate said <ok>

Oldsparkey, your OP has a lot of mentions of assholes and things that get inserted into assholes. Mate have you been corresponding with our near neighbours again like you used to back in the BBC606 days. ;)

    Hi oldsparkey <ok>

Trollope was a good manager for us. I say this because we havent managed many promotions in our history but we did get a promotion with Trollope. We went on a fantastic run that season to get into the play offs on the last game of the season in the 86th minute as well! That season was the season the new Wembley opened. We along with Chelsea were the only teams that season who got to play at Cardiff Millenium and Wembley. I liked him. He came across well to the fans.

But was his success down to himself? Maybe not. He had the services of a fantastic striker who scored for fun in Rickie Lambert! Without him, would we have got promoted? Doubtful. It was him who scored our 86th minute winner on the last game of the season to get into the play offs, which we won to get promoted!

Also Trollope had the help of Lennie Lawrence. Trollope wasnt our official manager when he took over. He was 1st named head coach with Lawrence being the DoF and he was basically training Trollope which worked well for a fair few seasons. Then Trollopes job title turned head coach to manager. Then the fans thought Trollope could do it on his own as should have the know-how to do it on his own and thought Lawrence's wages was best served on a new player and the board listened. But I felt he didnt get enough time on his own as the 1st season on his own he was sacked I think in December so only had a few months on his own. We ended up getting relegated that season. Our board sacked him as soon as we entered the relegation zone for the 1st time. On top of not getting enough time, he also in my opinion wasnt given enough funds either.

It was a shame how it ended. I still to this very day believe we would have got relegated that season if we kept him as manager. It was a mistake in my eyes letting him go.

I should think he has learnt a lot since his departure from us. Biased maybe but I think its more glass half full than empty with him.

Keep us posted on how he is getting on <ok>

Good luck with the rest of the season <hug>

gas - these days I draw the line at wurzel bashing (not in the biblical sense of course), as we have enough arseholes this side of the Bridge.

Unfortunately we have a couple running our club from the technical area. That's not to say we don't have a couple at higher levels as well mind, but they don't necessarily influence what we have to endure on the pitch.

The problem has been a bit of a mixture to be honest. An owner who fair play pumped in the cash but didn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to appointing managers. We had Ole who was like a schoolboy in a sweetshop, and now we've got uncle Fester who thinks passing the ball to one another is a crime.

I have noticed (you can't help but peer across the Bridge now and again) that the red side over there is doing rather well. I just hope we stay up to greet them in the Championship next season as they're such easy prey on the froum.........<laugh> <ok>

CJS - cheers pal. Trollope is not with us yet officially but is strongly rumoured to be on his way.

God, we need someone with a modern football brain in the camp instead of the bloody dinosaur we've been subjected to. <ok>
