Interesting read in yesterday's Herald. "Paul Sturock has promised to reveal the reasons why he believes Plymouth Argyle have ended up on the brink of financial oblivion" apparently he is not ready to spill all just yet but declared "What I know the rest of the world will know one day" and although he admits he played a part i our demise he feels others who should take more of the blame for the debts.

Obviously as Joanne average I've not been able to see what has gone on but I would have thought that Paul Sturrock should take a larger chunk of the blame than he accepts. He went way way over budget with players and there were far too many, most of which were no good anyway.

Anyway it will surely make interesting news when he does finally decide to reveal all. Good to see him looking so well BTW, leaving Argyle must be good for your health, take note Mr Reid.

Probably will say that it was the boards fault he signed useless players on high salaries, one who was on 12k a week just propping up a bar because they didn't say no to him. It was also the boards fault that they couldn't afford to sack him earlier .... will always be respected for his first time here, and despised for his return !

I think "despised" is too strong a word GAT, he did his best but just wasn't up to it.

Sturrock was and always will be a "Lower League manager" the man who builds workable squads who can take on a league with modest success. Just look at Southend, flirted with relegation two seasons ago but now with Sturrock at the helm, decent last season and present positions on the table.

Not saying that he was up for the Argyle job three years ago but he deserves some credit for getting us up to the Championship.

What he has to reveal, god only knows although I am sure a ridiculously priced book will provide the answer:

"There and back again - Luggy's tale". Slight adjustment to Tolkien's Hobbit. ;)

You are right "despised" is too stronger word, perhaps it should be "relieved" when he went !

I'd buy the book if it is written. My son bought me Holloway's and my wife got it signed. Can't bring myself to read it now but I would definately read Sturrock's.

Hang about I have all my own teeth and no wig just yet. Hair may be slightly thinner than it used to be but no false attachments on me. plymborn on the other hand can send you his teeth in the post. Are you suggesting that I burn a Christmas present from my son ladies? How callous of you to even think it or is that what you do with your's? My little boy bought me that even if it did turn out to be the worst present ever at the time but it is the thought that counts.
