Paul Slane, signed by Tony Mowbray from Motherwell in January 2010, made his long awaited comeback yesterday in a bounce match between a Celtic Development Squad and Blackpool.

Having missed a whole year of football due to a cruciate ligament injury, he managed an hour before being replaced by John Herron.

Celtic fielded a mixture of experienced and youth players and won the match 1-0 courtesy of a Paul George strike in the 53rd minute.

He used to play on the right of midfield or even as an out-and-out winger but I seem to recall Mowbray talking about converting him to a RB.

He was a good wee player as I remember but had a lot to do before being ready of the first team before he got crocked so I don't hold out much hope for him making it.
