I was expecting Scholes to be named as man of the match but he didn't... Scholes was superb today, he controlled our midfield today and kept passing the ball out and seeing out time. Sir Alex was great to bring him back in. He was great today
Agreed, he was great. Why did he ever retire in the first place? Still better than 99% of midfielders in England
I think the fact Scholes has had a nice long break, and more importantly a rest from football, has helped him. He's come back and nice and fit and freshened up our poor midfield. He still has alot to offer us, he may not have the legs he used to but he still passes the ball about as well as anyone.I'm delighted he's back, as he offers us so much. As this is likely to be his last season, if I was the new England manager id ask him to be in the squad for the Euros, he probably doesn't have the legs anymore, but as an impact substitution with half hour to play, I can't think of anyone better to bring off the bench. Regardless of legs, he still has the quality ti dictate the game from midfield. He's still a great player, I dont care what anyone says. For me Scholes is one of the most underrated player of all time, Rooney rates hoim as the best he's ever played with, Zidane claims he is by far the best player he has ever come up against, and Henry says he's the best player in Premier League history. So it amazes me that he's never been awarded any big individual honours. Maybe it has something to do with the fact he is so media shy. All I know is regardless of individual honours he is one of the best midfielders ever, and by a country mile the most naturally gifted player England have ever produced
