I so hope Stoke stuff Gillingham tomorrow just to shut this tool up -

or better still get a draw so he has to face the wrath of the Brit crowd!

    http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.u...-adversaries/story-14345315-detail/story.html

TONY Pulis has been called many things in football, but evil and despicable is pushing it just a little.

That such words should have come from Gillingham chairman Paul Scally, by way of marking Pulis and Stoke reaching the FA Cup final last May, should surprise nobody.

The content and the timing of Scally's vicious outburst bore all the hallmarks of a 13-year feud that will only end with the hatchet being buried between the shoulder blades of one or the other.

And Pulis, were he not gagged by a court order, might be tempted to return Scally's searing remarks with something equally damning by way of a riposte to his old adversary.

The pair appeared made for each other as Gillingham progressed from the nether regions of League Two towards the League One play-offs between 1995 and 1999.

But their success was toasted with a poisoned chalice, it seems, and there was an almost inevitable parting of the ways after the Gills were beaten on penalties in a Wembley play-off final against Manchester City in May, 1999.

That wasn't an end to Scally and Pulis, however, just the end of the beginning.

Almost two years and several witness statements later, the two met on neutral ground in the High Court after Pulis sued for wrongful dismissal.

Pulis would eventually win an out-of-court settlement for the thousands of pounds he was claiming in unpaid bonuses and other money due from his time at Gillingham.

But not before Scally had used the privileges of open court to accuse Pulis of attempting to blackmail him into paying him the money... by threatening to publicise documents said to prove financial irregularities at Gillingham under Scally's watch.

The gloves were off. And staying off.

Scally swung his anger towards Stoke City and Bristol City two months later by demanding they pay Gillingham's £250,000 legal bill for the Pulis case because they had (allegedly) approached Pulis when he was still manager of the Gills.

"I am still pursuing Bristol City and Stoke," he revealed in June 2001, "but so far I have heard nothing from either.

"I have informed them the total cost came to £250,000. If we don't get a positive response I will be reporting them to the Football League."

But Stoke's chief executive at the time, Jonathan Fuller, was mystified by Scally's outburst, observing rather contemptuously: "I haven't received anything from Gillingham and I'm sure if something had been sent to somebody else at the club I would have been given a copy."

The clock then ticked on to November 2002 as Pulis, the recently-installed manager of Stoke City, returned to Gillingham for an otherwise routine league match.

Scally used the occasion to re-open old wounds, however, launching a bitter personal attack on Pulis in his programme notes and on Gillingham's official website.

His more printable statements included: "Tony Pulis is no friend of Gillingham Football Club. I expect him to get the sort of reception he is entitled to."

Pulis, having largely bitten his tongue because of that court gagging order, couldn't resist a side swipe 13 months later when Stoke returned to Priestfield.

Before the game, Stoke striker Carl Asaba had been portrayed as being greedy when leaving Gillingham a few year earlier.

He duly suffered a rough ride from Gillingham fans and Pulis, leaving no doubt about who he blamed for Asaba's reception, later commented: "One person has dropped a lot of poison on Carl.

"For one person to dig the dirt is very disappointing, but not surprising."

The passing years have done nothing to mend relations and now fate, in the guise of the FA Cup, has flung them together once more.

And rumour has it that Pulis will be taking his own sandwiches tomorrow, just in case.

Cheers mate I read that in the Sentinel at tea time..

I saw this interview earlier on S S News...
The guy is not worth thinking about IMO..
When asked if he would like to finally bury the hatchet"Paul Scally" he said something like... "As long as it's between his shoulders or ears", can not remember which.
    Bloody hell, for Christ's sake??
This guy"reporter" then said I believe Tony Pulis is banned from the stadium.. reply was "yes HE is every area of the ground apart from the Dugout and technical area"

He also said not word perfect but.." And IF he had settled in the courts, Gillingham would not exist as a football club/bussines"

I HOPE you get to hear it before Saturday's game Waddo..
My oppinion is... whatever DID happen it's done with.. the guy is a total TOOL of the highest order.
Of course he doesn't like Tony Pulis but to SAY that in a live interview... ******* hell Waddo? Excuse the French but I was gobsmacked. There is hate but this was just WAY over the top IMHO.

Like you said I HOPE we put half a dozen past them. I've NOTHING against Gillingham and certainly NOT their fans. <ok>

Honestly mate, when I first heard it, I could NOT believe what Paul Scally actually said..

This is totally out of order, I still regard Pulis highly but if anyone shags the chairman's wife of course they have to go.

  9. Scally took some stick yesterday. TP was in the Gills bar after the game having a beer with Gills fans. My son managed to get in with a Gills fan and he was having a fine time. It was obvious that a lot of Gills fans still have fond memories of him.

    The songs were good banter

  10. Also the programme notes Scally wrote were quite pathetic.

Given also his comments on BBC London news about burying thehatchet in TP's head why should not the away support let Scally have it quite crudely??

I didn't see the SSN interview with Scally but my Dad informed me he got asked if he will shake Pulis' hands if he meets him and he said "I'll shake him by the throat." I understand the guy is bitter about Pulis sleeping with his missus but there's no need to say that on telly.

  14. Comments from Scally in Programme

'Today's match also sees the return of a former manager of the club, Tony Pullis, a matter which has provoked much interest in the media, especially locally . Whilst I have few feelings anymore either way, towards the man, those fans who were at an age to understand the situation that occurred at the time, especially those who read the transcripts of thecase we produced after the collapse of Mr. Pullis' case against the club, will appreciate the damage that he could have caused had he succeeded in his claims against the club. In fact had he done so, I doubt very much we would be in business today.

So while Mr. Pullis may now be mounting some form of charm offensive with our loyal fans, his words won't wash with me, just as they didn't back in 2000, and i doubt they will wash with the majority of those who support and care foir this fine club. I won't forget what happened 11 years ago nor what Mr.Pullis could have done to this club, and I certainly won't forgive him either.

That said, I have no issue with Stoke City as a club, their fans or other officials, in fact I have the highest regard for Peter Coates, their Chairman and Tony Scholes, their Chief Executive, both of whom I have known for a good number of years.'Having heard what the moron had said on BBC London News about TP is it any wonder we supporters will support our team and manager? When Whinger starts having a go we will react and so it is the same way this guy will be vilified as a result.

    Thanks<ok>

He's obviously a very bitter man and I said the same as Sgt. NO WAY should he have said that in the t.v. interview... it's a digrace On topic I think? Some gills fans seem to think that Tony had an affair with his wife.. NOT for one minute do I believe that. Perhaps she likes the limelight!
Does this make her a Scallywag?

    Cris
Whilst I will not always agree with what T.P. does team selction's etc.We all of us, the Stoke fans will back him all the way. Great support yesterday Cris, I could hear you on the radio. I don't get this gagging order either Cris? Radio Stoke said it was for life. T.P.s hands are tied but, we ALL had the last laugh yesterday.

Potts there must be some reason that Scally does not want TP spilling the beans on. Something obviously went on that Scally does not want to be public knowledge. What I do find cowardly though is the fact he can vilify TP in the press and media and yet TP has no right to respond. I bet TP laughed all the way back to Stoke yesterday!

The best quote out of all that has to be:

"So while Mr. Pullis may now be mounting some form of charm offensive with our loyal fans, his words won't wash with me, just as they didn't back in 2000, and i doubt they will wash with the majority of those who support and care foir this fine club."

Judging by the reception TP got the other day from all sections of the ground, clearly most Gills fans don't "support and care" for their club in the eyes of Scally. What a prize twonk he is.
