That's it. As everyone knows, our climb to our current dizzy heights is all down to a flea-bitten spaniel called Rex who is the property of .... yes, folks Paul Mitchell no less. Without Rex's presence on matchday our players will go into depression, lose all of their remaining games in the League, and suffer a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of the might Sheffield Blades. This will prompt the Liebherr family to sell up to the hot dog stand outside SMS, all of the players will leave and Hampshire CC will serve an eviction notice on the club. SFC will be renamed Portsmouth West and will start next season in the Evo-Stik league, ground sharing Fratton Park.

    Is that enough meltdown?

OK, let's try. Paul Mitchell has resigned - good luck to him. Personally I don't give a flying ****.

More fool him. Another one who has forgotten how good he's got it at Saints and has followed the scent of a Levy pay-packet. (perhaps understandable)

He seems to have forgotten that he will have to actually work in Daniel Levy's Spurs regime. No direction, no patience, no stability.

If recent form is anything to go by, the new man will be an upgrade anyway. :)

Spurs also seem to miss the point that our set-up is built, and not bought.

As long as he signs something that means he has to keep his mouth shut then I don't care. He's easily replaceable.

If that wasn't alrady part of his contract, we're doing something wrong.

    http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...rs_after_handing_in_notice_at_Saints/?ref=mac

The Echo take on it. The reason I have posted this is that it says that everything and everyone else remains in place and that Saints are cool about the whole thing. It says that Saints is not expected to make any comment, but I think the positive spin in the article probably comes from a club source that doesn't want to be quoted directly.

I thought that he would go if the offer was real. He has set up the system here...why wouldn't he go to Spurs where he is being trusted to set up a system from scratch. He won't be under the same pressure as the players...he will be given time. It's not just the money, it is also the challenge and he is young enough to want his career on an upper trajectory. He will probably move on again after Spurs. He has done well by us and now moves on...I wish him luck as a person, but not enough that Spurs improve dramatically.

How long has he actually been with Saints? I thought someone said it was only two years, if so I don't think he can take all the credit for the setup. I'm sure a replacement is all lined up.

I don't see how it would stop him talking. I mean, how would you prove anything?

Says 3 years in Echo article. He knows all about our system and is obviously good at his job, but he didn't actually set up our software. Our senior scouts are older, so have been here a lot longer. Let's hope he doesn't take any more of the team though...not that I think that would be catastrophic. The system is still marching on :)

We took him from mkdon our progression has been good for him just as much as he's been good for us, were now in a position that we will be a attractive job opportunity for most world class scouts with more experience in top leagues

There will be a replacement already lined up with Les whispering sweet nothings in his ear, courtesy of the Black Box. I must admit I was a bit concerned at this when the rumour first arose but in reality it's just someone moving on to a fresh challenge and shouldn't be seen as a slight on Saints. I wish him well, but not too well, at Spurs.

He obviously puts a curse on the team he is at so he is kept busy. <magic>

He probably did. It's just not software we've used for very long.

From the outside it possibly looked like that was pivotal in our rise and he becomes a headhunting target. Then again it might be as simple as tottenham need to rebuild their scouting system and unfortunately there was a recommendation from their interim manager.

Aren't all of Tottenham's managers interim?

Their injury list is massive. You can see why Koeman talks about our lack of depth...if we had that number out, we wouldn't have a team at all.

Going by the results this Season they need him more than we do, I say thank you Paul for any good you did for us, hope the move doesn't go wrong for you. Thinks, could it be that we are planting spies in their camp? Would we stoop to this sort of thing?
