....and any other clueless **** (+ a few Negative Nancys on this forum) that have written us off before we even started... WE ARE SOUTHAMPTON and we are here to stay. When we get Florin and Jay in the team and the chemistry right we will be flying.... JWP will become a man in this campaign and Dusan will make us forget Adam in double quick time and we must surely have the strongest midfield outside of the top 6, Bertrand looks class at LB and the team look well motivated and up for the challenge ahead. The talk of a club meltdown has proved to be folly and that will get right up a few journalist's noses.
I want to see those condemnations from Merson, Neville and Quinn, so that I can be abusive back at the screen. The C-word burst out of me last night whilst I watched Pinocchio [my new name for that ex-manager] being interviewed on MOTD last night. Surprised myself.
The common factor with all these knobs is that they've bizarrely ignored all the players we've bought.
Here's a thought, why care about what any of them have to say? Are they important, respected, intelligent people? Even if like last season, they gave Saints lots of praise, is it genuine, or do they just jump on the latest bandwagon? It's just all part of the bullshit machine. If people take notice of it, the bullshit machine goes on & gets bigger. Ignore it and it has no where to go.
Sadly, I think you're a little late with that otherwise sound advice. You're well and truly out-numbered by the believers now.
Well, the ever diplomatic Gary Lineker said nothing during pre-season, while all the commotion was going on, bar feeling sorry for Saints fans. And very soon after today's game he cheerfully tweeted his genuine pleasure that we'll be fine.
I have said several times this summer (between moaning about some signings and the board) that though we've got a bit weaker, we haven't really been overtaken in quality by any other PL club. A few smart signings have been made but nothing really jumps out at you. Cabella to Newcastle is decent, Bojan to Stoke is decent...but have any of the clubs beneath us in last season's table taken a real step forward in terms of quality? Nah.
Love how any reporter with anything negative to say about saints are worthless, and whenever somebody posts a link to a positive article its a "great read"
I think if you check the predictions competition, there's quite a lot of us that fall into your "****" category right now! (Myself included). I don't have a problem with people predicting us to lose that game by 3 goals. An awful lot of us did too.
It's not just any negative reporter. It's any lazy reporter who quite clearly hasn't done the research first before writing the article. The positive articles aren't exactly going to be flamed, whether or not they are just as worthless in their opinion and research. Are they..? Think about it. Clue: It's a Saints forum.
I think everyone gets frustrated when pundits say negative things about their team. I don't think it's surprising people didn't fancy your chances though, it's not to say you wouldn't do well this season but you had a number of debutants up against a side packed with Premier League experience. Glad to say you surprised many of us and I think it helped that Clattenburg surprised us by not buying the Liverpool players throwing themselves to the floor. It's been a funny, old start to the season, hasn't it. Early favourites getting a wake up call, only 2 home wins and even the first 2 goal win of the season was an even match. If only Cork had buried that chance, eh?
