Hull City fan in peace. I'm looking to write a piece about our new signings, and while it's fairly easy to get a look at Adebola through the highlights avaliable on Forest Player, McKenna isn't quite as easy to study, he's popped up a few times putting a defensive shift in, which I was quite happy to see, but I was wondering if you guys would be able to give me some more information? From what our own fans have been saying, it seems McKenna is a good tackler who can pass the ball relatively well, as well as being a bit of a general in midfield (hence why he was your captain for some time.), would these statements be correct? or have the hull fans got the wrong idea? Adebola's pretty obviously a target man, and his goal against Sheffield Utd showed a nice bit of strength to hold off a defender off and turn to get the shot away, even if their keeper was a bit of a shambles in terms of dealing with it. I know he was quite often used as a sub, and this is the way I expect City to use him, but is there anything else I should know? Both of them seem like nice lads who are willing to get their heads down and work in whatever capacity the manager wants them to. It would be great if a few of you (or even one) could spare some time to help me out here, but if you don't, that's fine. best of luck for the new season, I'm sure you'll be in the running for promotion again, just hopefully we'll be up there with you.
Tiger, I was having the exact same conversation in the pub the other night with a mate of mine who is a die hard Hull fan. Both these players always give a 100% and can bring a lot of experience to any side. The problem is I think they are well past their best and only have a very limited amount to offer you. Adebola still has some ability as an impact sub but I would really only bring him on if you winning and wanted to hold out for the final few minutes. His pace (which was never great) has steadily dropped in the past couple of seasons. Mckenna could be even worse, he has struggled to get into our squad for the past 6 months and he was the captain! He tends to give the ball away a bit but on the plus side his man mangement is really good. We brought him from preston because we desperately needed somone with that level of experience and up to last year he did the job well. This year I think his age has really caught up with him and I think his days competing at this level are numbered.
Dele Adebola is a strong man and did ok last night scoring @ North ferriby. He made alot room for Matty Fryatt and maybe also 2 speedy wingers. I also dont expect DA to start every game but he sure will bash the centre halfs around. They are both good short term and maybe a change of club will re-energise both. Good luck to Forest. See you on the 29th Oct,.
