Undoubtedly the finest striker to wear the blue shirt in my 50 years of following the Town (I’m too young (or should that be not old enough?) to have seen Ray Crawford) Paul Mariner was sadly taken too early. He had it all as a number 9,strength,guille,heading and hold up play and he always knew where the goal was.If we had a striker with even half his ability we’d walk this Division. Anyway 2-1 Town, gotta be right eventually! COYB!!!
I agree BA, he was a class act, did he play alongside David Johnson ? (another first rate striker.) Hard fought 1 nil win to get the hopes up again.
I think Johnson had already gone when Mariner arrived,I might be wrong.I first remember him playing alongside Trevor Whymark but he really made his name as part of a three with Gates and Brazil.
Rare visit back home for me. Shame that we didn’t hold out last week - it would have put a different spin on this one. We are honouring an absolute legend and was so glad to get to meet him and hear some stories in December 2019 just before the world turned upside down! 6-0 Town.
A fascinating game in prospect. I do go back to Ray Crawford, but for me Mariner was the real legend. God, if we had him leading the line today... Tough match, but I am expecting Bonne to be on fire and will score. Just hope Morsy is being managed and can play another cameo role. 2-1 and our hopes stay alight, with 2 nice fixtures following.
Plymouth are starting to look frustrated with not having much of the ball, and then wasting it when they do
I've got it on first row but nothing on any of my dodgy sky channels, don't recall it being advertised for sky either, the Rotherham game, yes!
