We are being linked with Paul Dixon - a left back at Dundee United He's 25 and out of contract Millwall and Derby also interested.
It says this on Sky: Dundee United full back Paul Dixon has confirmed he will be departing Tannadice this summer. The 25-year-old left back’s contract is up at the end of the campaign after making more than 100 appearances in four years in tangerine. Dixon would like to try his hand at a club in England and said that even qualification for the Champions League qualifiers for the Terrors would not change his mind. Speaking to the Daily Express, former Dundee player Dixon said: “I think I’ve made my mind up to be honest that I’ll be moving on at the end of the season, even if we get into the Champions League. “I’m still a Dundee United player and I’ve got three games left in which I’ll be giving 110%. I would like to go to England but obviously that depends on having offers to go down there.” Now the former Scotland Under-21 cap wants to bow out by delivering Peter Houston’s men into the qualifying stages for Europe’s premier competition - a slot available in third place this season due to Rangers’ ineligibility. Dixon added: “It’s not very often you get the chance to play in the Champions League but we have a chance and we’re fully focused to try and do that. “Other than winning the league, there’s not much more that could be done at a club like Dundee United.”
I watched the Dundee game v Celtic this weekend and they defended very well... Very much sounds like he's already been made an offer or done a deal somewhere and being a free agent, this is probably what we will be looking for and if he's any good, I feel we have a big advantage with a fellow Scot as manager...
Some bloke on Otib says that we've been in talks with Scott Laird of Stevenage too cos he knows him. Two new LBs in and the position finally sorted?
The way football is now you dont need to spent millions buying players as there is so many players out of contrat every summer, its just about finding better players to replace the players you release. I have never heard of Paul Dixon before so cannot comment on him. I'm hoping buying players from Scotland under DM will turn out for the best as only have to look at Borough to see when under Gordon they bought half of celtics first team and then struggled, showing that Scottish football standards arent as good as they claim. I'm sure the manager knows what he is doing. Hopefully he can get these players in quick as foster took awhile to adapt when he first came in so these potential new singings need a full season under their belt but maybe new scottish signings playing a tour in scotland wont show as much but we will have to wait and see what our home friendlies will be and hopefully we can get at least 1 big team at the gate.
