Don't think it will be us. To be honest if we did have 150 grand to spend on a striker surely we could get better than Benson? Think he will stay in League 1, Stevenage maybe?
Maybe not 150k, probably more around 100k, but then he has played in the Football league for a while as he is experienced so he has been there and done that, so if Scally believes that he is worth 150k then that is up to him, Scally would not overpay and also if he gets goals that get us promotion that is priceless, But I have doubts that we are one of the teams bidding for him even though we have links to him.
We all thought we had no money and then out of the blue signed 8 players including 100k for Kedwell. gfclukey... you're right in a sense that we could do better in trying to get Cody and I personally don't see it happening but in fact, Benson scored 38 goals in his last two seasons at Dagenham in League 2 so he knows where the net is at this level.

Hi guys, Addick in peace... Opinions on Benson are very split at the Valley, on the one hand he's not very fast on the ball, can't hold the ball up very well, and isn't capable of providing his own goals, yet on the other hand, he gets on the end of crosses and bangs it into the net on a fairly regular basis. He scored 10 goals last year for one of the worst Charlton sides in history, receiving very little service from midfield. I'm not sure how great your wingers are (apologies for my lack of prior research) but if they can swing in a decent cross then Benson would be sure to score very regularly. He's out of favour at Charlton now, and became a bit of a scapegoat (after Phil Parkinson spent 250k on him, despite only one years prior league experience) but to be honest, he's a decent goalscorer. The price of 150k is very high, especially considering hes on the wrong side of 30, but its probably only an attempt to regain some of the 250k we spent on him a year ago. Should be a decent acquisition for you (if Parkinson at Bradford doesn't beat you to it). Good luck for this season, hopefully you're back in League One before too long
Apparently Phil Parkinson is very keen to sign him now he is at Bradford. Think we may be fighting a losing battle to sign him now.
I think he turned down a couple of clubs from upcountry because he wants to stay local. However,going by what "wewantourcharltonback" friend says, I wouldn't think hes the type of forward we want. He sounds more of a Kedwell type rather than a Cody type
The ideal situation would be to sign someone from VERY low non-league with a great scoring record for around 20 grand and bring in someone like lisbie on a pay as you play
