http://themarblehalls.com/2012/07/15/marcus-liebherr-trophy-just-elaborate-joke-at-arsenals-expense/ Even spelt Markus with a "c" initially. Could've at least got the name right. DTLW
This article was meant to be clever and funny but sadly for the author it was neither. This nonsence was written by a person who failed to do any research or to understand the significance of Markus to our club. The author's behaviour was of the most conceited and arrogant kind and we will have to get used to it now we will be coming up against the plastic fans of so called big clubs.
He was mocking Arsenal's lack of trophies. He said as much in responding to a post and did correct spelling of Markus's name. Tasteless to us but don't think he meant real harm. We are going to need seriously thicker skin this season.
Too right there! I get very defensive of us. He says such but as Godders said, if it was intending to be funny or witty it wasn't. I've just shown an Arsenal friend it and he doesn't really get the whole point in it either.
Not enough time in the day to be stressed at every daft thing on the internet, I just spend my time getting stressed at daft things on here.
This was an Arsenal fan response: "Its simple, you get a point for every goal you scored. We scored two goals, had one win, and one draw.. Techincally a defeat. Very simple format, and they’re are plenty of videos of the goals floating around." They all have absolutely no idea.
Well, I just can't get excited about this because it was definitely not intended for Saints fans eyes, and is if anything a rather self-deprecating attempt at irony. The target of the irony, being Arsenal itself. It's certainly not patronising.
Like Channonfodder here, I can't see anything offensive in this article at all. Some of you need to get thicker skin if you're to cope with Hansen et al tearing our defence a new one every week (after the team we have just played already have, of course!)
It did look like a poor attempt at irony from the author and didn't have much to do or say about Saints.
I certainly won't need thick skin to avoid being offended by anything Hansen or his ilk say on MOTD, as it is usually utter rubbish anyway. So called experts trying to be controversial or provoke a reaction leave me cold.
I thought it was quite funny, and the humour was aimed very much at Arsenal's expense, not ours. Also, I didn't stay for the penalty shoot-out myself as I had to drive back to London, and I have no idea why we bothered with it. Thought Danny Seabourne played well btw.
