Great going forward, a bit dodgy defensively. Probably really good if you have a large amount of possession, good centre backs and a good holding player. He certainly wasn't ****e but he didn't pull up any trees being honest. Hard to tell, he only played 7 or 8 times I think?? I don't know what he is like now as I haven't seen him play since he left.

I wish him all the best of course................

    Always liked him.

Looked good in the Championship. Wish him well.

Let's be honest - he was very average at best! I assume though he may have improved in the last couple of years. Better at attacking then defending and would make a good wing back.

I don't know why a lot of our fans rate him highly? He was OK but that was about it

Not in his very short time with us. He may have improved massively. If he had though you'd have thought Chelsea would have kept him with losing Cole and loaning out Bertrand. I suppose they did have Filipe Luis and Azpilicueta. He may just have been one too many and not fancied anymore loans. Vitesse did ok overall, though had a shocking 2nd half of the season. It was poor, almost Newcastle esque, picking 3 points from the last 21 available.

I think we can safely say we all look forward to seeing him play in the Derby games this year. Mackems because they want to see an actual left-back play in red and white for ****ing once, and Geordies because the left-back you've picked is a crippling defensive weakness Obertan will obliterate on his way to an inevitable hattrick <ok>

Cant say I can remember that much of him, then again he only played half a dozen time for us in the Championship.
He seems to have played a fair bit the last two years so must have some experience by now - more than Dummett and Haidara.

We've signed him because of his attacking attributes not defensively, as we'll by playing possession football with wing backs. As David Moyes Wife very astutely analysed how to get the best out of him, this is how we will play.

Of course, we need center backs with pace for this to work but no luck bringing one in just yet.
