Quite a lot of chatter about regarding this lad. The rumour has it that he is available for a permanent transfer for £10m. The thought of him and Ross McCormack up front with Mitro, Perez and Armstrong next season is quite sexy to be honest. All 3 could do a job in the Prem if we got promoted too. Thoughts?
Not for me. He seems on recent loan record to be someone whose not destined to reach the heights expected. From memory and Wiki Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 2011–2012 Nottingham Forest 2 (0) 2012– Chelsea 0 (0) 2012–2013 → Milton Keynes Dons (loan) 37 (18) 2014 → Derby County (loan) 21 (8) 2014–2015 → Middlesbrough (loan) 39 (17) 2015 → Crystal Palace (loan) 6 (0) 2016 → Norwich City (loan) Noting the non events at Palace and Norwich. Not what we should be looking for. Prefer McCormack even given age and cost.
I would guess he'd be instead of McCormack rather than as well as him? He did well in the Championship with Boro the season before last, and he'd probably appreciate the chance to stop the carousel of loan deals since joining Chelski. If we signed both Bamford and McCormack I'd expect one of Ayoze and Mitro to leave.
When played regularly he scores goals in the Championship which is what we need. Current: Riviere Cisse Armstrong Mitro Perez Future Bamford McCormack Armstrong Mitro Perez I know which one I'd want. The other thing is... if we got promoted we could sell either RM or PB and get a proven goal getter for the prem. If we don't go back up... we have 4 great strikers for another crack at the championship.
If we are looking to get out of the Fizzy Pop League (incidentally is it still called that?) at the first attempt we need guaranteed goals. McCormack's record is far superior to Bamford's. Given the money aspect that will exist from now in the PL I wouldn't baulk at paying the money for McCormack which reportedly will only be a few million more than for Bamford's. Not for me I must admit. I'm just not convinced by him. I'd prefer we plucked someone with a bit of strength and pace from lower down the leagues. I think Heed or Dorty said "find the next Andy Cole", I'd go with that approach. Like Andre Gray or Danny Ings worked out for Burnley or Callum Wilson at Bournemouth, I'd like to think we could do something similar.
His stats imply he can get goals in the Championship, but hasn't been able to make the step up to the Prem yet. With that in mind, he'd certainly be worth getting on loan if we can persuade Chelsea to do that, cost effective. Not worth £10m though. We need to make sure there's no chance of Riviere getting into the team anyway.
An interestingly enough Bamford turned down a place at Harvard to play football. Only got 3Bs and a C though, I got better than that and never got told to apply to Harvard.
Bamford had his opportunity at Crystal and Norwich and hardly kicked a ball. Doubt he would do anything for your promotion push to be honest Mid table Championship quality now, QPR, Leeds etc His boat has sailed, made some terrible decisions
Mario Balotelli. Had a rough season at Milan following a rough season at Liverpool - honestly who wants him now? There's almost 0% chance but I thought that about keeping Rafa so a loan with option to purchase later on - honestly think Liverpool just want rid of him. He's only 25 - a lot of baggage but i think the fans would love the nutter. Maybe one for a years time if we get promoted and he's had a rough season somewhere else.
No, simple as. He needs a complete fall from grace just like Nile Ranger, that will give him a bit of perspective! although with footballers earning so much now, it takes longer as the bank balance doesnt run out as quickly
I see where you're coming from and both thought they had made it prematurely so failed to push on. The difference is that Mario thought he had made it by winning things with Inter Milan and Man City and helping Pirlo destroy Germany in the semi finals of Euro 2012. Ranger thought he had made it by getting some games for us in the Championship. Ranger was/is a grade a prick with no obvious redeeming qualities. I can't explain why i like Mario, but i do - he's like a child. An idiot child.
Could you imagine him and mitro up front?! Would be comical the amount of cards! Never happen and to be honest I wouldn't want him
Balotelli!! Seriously lads lower your sights, we are in the Championship. He thinks he is CL. Obviously he probably isn't but he thinks he is.
Not worth anything near £10m. There are better around and won't cost as much. In my opinion he is a championship player and we must look at the season after this ( providing we get back to PL ) and not have to start again,
