Recently crowned Championship player of the season.

He's got the best minutes to goal ratio in the division and that's without penalties. It's better than Jordan Rhodes, who was a short while ago, apparently, worth 12 million pounds.

We'd be fools to get rid of him and i think it's very unlikely that will happen, at least for a short while.

What should we do with him next season?

For me, i'm hopeful Boro get promotion with Karanka and he gets his chance to play there again next season whilst in the Premiership. I think if he was to stay with us next season he'd be "third choice" and wouldn't get enough football. Although the positive would be he'd be training with our first team squad, however would the lack of first team football delay his development a little?

Interested to see what others think. He's obviously a massive talent and is a proven goalscorer (albeit in the lower leagues). Just hoping that we don't mess this one up.

It would be good for him to stay settled at Boro but if they are promoted they are likely to be in a dog fight and then will we really see how good he is in what will likely be a struggling P.L side? Tough one. Maybe a potential mid table prem side like a Swansea or Villa under Sherwood?

He has to be playing prem football next year though, no question.

You'd have to say he'd probably have been a better option for us in these last couple of games then Drogba; who I think has been poor.

    Agreed.
Thats the conundrum. In our current situation, it would have been great to blood Bamford in our team, but realistically, how often do your first AND second choice strikers BOTH get injured.
I championed bringing him back here next season, but in hindsight I may have been hasty.
It's clear Drogba cannot cut it and he will go at the end of the season.
If we can sign a third choice striker of his ilk (though not quite as decrepit) for one season, then I will happily let Bamford go out on loan either with Boro if they come up, OR another PL side like Swansea or Villa to keep his progress going.
One thing I am sure of is that Bamford NEEDS to be playing PL football next season, if not with us then someone else. He has proven he can cut it no question on the Championship, now he needs to make that step up.

Be good to get Bamford playing premier league football. I've never seen him play personally so couldnt really say what his strengths are. be nice if we can bring one of our own through though

I am for bringing him back and into the squad. If not, then Villa would be perfect as no one brings on youngsters as well as Sherwood does.

Unless he has learned to defend corners in our own box Jose won't want to use him.

We all know the drill - we will loan to a PL club next season and cash in when he scores goals. Nobody is getting ahead of Costa for at least the next 5 years.
