Last week Brighton got beaten by our better Southampton side and everyone hated Poyet for crying and whinging like a baby. Today we lost to a stronger and harder working Bristol City side and some of you guys are crying and whinging like babies. "Well we are top of the league and you arent so come back and talk to us when you arent in the relegation zone" is childish and pathetic.

Grow the f**k up and show some grace in defeat.

Come on Saints fans, you can't win them all. I think most City fans have respect for your club and certainly your manager. We would love to trade places with you right now seeing as you are top of the league and have a stadium that we are extremely envious of. We have had a shocking start to the campaign but have now found some genuine hope and a measure of our progress is taking 4 points from 6 from the top 2 teams. Let us enjoy the result.

I agree that it is important to win with dignity as no-one enjoys gloaters on their board. But one has to learn to lose with dignity as well.

We look forward to the return match and whatever the result, let's all play nice afterwards as to my knowledge we have no axes to grind with each other.

Enjoy the rest of your season and I for one genuinely hope that you can go all the way as you are a "proper" club.

I think its only because theres been no grace from the BC fans, theyve been really rubbing it in for no apparent reason even before the game

Personally, i always predicted a tough game and thought we would struggle.

But when you get online and the first thread is "Played you off the park" or whatever, of course i'm going to remind them of their terrible terrible league position.

Bristol were a lot better than us today, even if the ref had a stinker. Our big players just didn't perform, Lallana was awful and Lambert had a shocker. Adomah looks like a very good player for Bristol and Danny Fox just couldn't handle him.

I haven't read all of todays posts but I'd be surprised if that was true. Before today we did have a few of your posters giving it large which is understandable considering they're probably young uns and your position in the league compared to where you were just a few years ago.

Then you had some of our posters warning you that we are not cannon fodder and a few comments get chucked in and then it begins...

I think things have been very good natured between both sets of fans on here bar the usual forum melting pot of people who enjoy the banter/taking the piss out of your opponents. You can hand pick a few posts from any teams board and label them arrogant/big headed/up their own arses but I think it's more down to the individual how they respond. Put it this way, if you had won today our board would've taken a tanning from your piss takers and rightly so because that's part of what forums are all about.

Agree with Natchrawldry, if we had of won we would have been slating them on their board! Anyway, Where do you think you will finish this season? You looked like a much better team than Coventry who we played the other week that's for sure.

Very well said. BC deserved the win and have begun to climb to safety with their new manager. We lost and will lose again but will win enough to keep up the fight. Hull next and they won't be easy either.

We still sit on top and a win against Hull won't do us any harm so let's get ready for the battle.

    True. Sticks and stones...
I think Bristol are likely to mount a serious push up the table now. Although beating us convincingly means that the element of suprise has gone.Teams will be wary of them again.

Personally mate, I think (hope) we can do a Hull City/Blackpool and get right up there. I'd be happy for mid/upper table after the horrendous start we've had, but I'm feeling very optimistic and I'm allowing myself to dream of the play offs, our new man Del really is the real deal and we haven't had that for a while, and going by what he's showed us so far I think it's possible.

To answer your question, I think we'll finish 7th on goal difference. Ouch!

Let's face it,there are disrespectful fans at both clubs but some take simple banter a bit to far with pathetic posts. It's just a loss as far as i'm concerned,we could win 10 on the bounce now, that's football!

The lesson for us all is perhaps a reminder that no team in this league is a push over, top or bottom. Any win is a good win no body likes losing. A loss should be excepted in grace just the same as a win or draw. As for the so called banter, we all have people who have yet to learn the real art of banter and the fun they can have out of it. For some banter is mistaken as a right to insult, even brag or belittle. Over time they will see how futile and juvenile it is. Mind you did we used to do that? No doubt we did..........

If I had to choose, I would have rather lost to Brissle than Brighton, that's for sure! Couldn't get to game, but sounds like they did. Good number on us, stopped us playing/creating and scored two goals. When you're top, that's what happens and we need to get used to it.

    Well done City.

I never blame the opposition when we lose (unless they try to kick us off the park). City are in form and our away form is average, so was always a possibility. Shows how far Saints have come that my disappointment was not wild and neither am I deeply depressed. Good to have another game coming up fast (I think<laugh>).
