How kalou or anelka are in that squad ahead of him are a joke, i know his only young but his a great player and has everything to cope with the champions league ( physique, mentality, power, speed ), and even if people wanna bang on about " kalou and anelka are more experienced in the champions league " well that Romeu is in it and i'd much rather have lukaku. Outrageous decision from AVB especially if torres still can't find his form. Thoughts/opinions?
It's experience mate, we have Drog and Sturridge ahead of him for that lone striker role, with Torres ultimately starting most of our games. Midfield is where we need our armoury, we haven't got a lot of experienced midfielders for the group stages so I'd rather Romeu, look on the bright side - if he's not in the CL team he's going to play a lot more PL games and if he proves his worth, he'll be picked for the knock out.
As much as I can't stand Anelka etc experience is key. Fact is Anelka has won the CL before and he is an asset to the team, in fairness he has probably been our best performer in the CL over the last 2 or 3 seasons. I still haven't forgiven him for Moscow though and never will. It's only the group stages anyway, if we need Lukaku that badly we're in trouble.
Exactly!! if we cant get through the group with Torres, Drogba, Sturridge and Anelka as forwards we have issues Lukaku wouldn't solve. Lukaku's real chances will come in the next season or so when drogba and anelka move on.
I watched Anelka destroy us at our place last season - he was awesome - has he really gone that far backwards for you guys?? (Only looking at your board leading up to the match at the weekend!!)
Your welcome anytime mate. Problem is Anelka is best down the middle, no coincidence that his best games for us came in the CL and against you guys when he played in the centre. He does okay, but not my favourite player, to put it lightly
The main one i'm on about that shouldn't be ahead of Lukaku was Kalou because his utter garbage, anelkas either great or awful,theres games where he is outstanding and no-one can get near him but then he has the games where he doesn't look interested and doesn't use his speed, his one of our fastest players even at his age but you hardly see him use it anymore, and i don't like the way he takes his penalties think its stupid, but he is a very good player and on his day he'd be on most teams starting 11 but it's hard to tell which anelka will turn up and i'd just prefer someone like Lukaku, his got everything already apart from the experience but the main thing is that he wants to be at the club, his supported us since he was a kid and wants to be there so you know every game he plays your going to get 110% commitment
why don't you see it this way? CL is way tougher than winning the league. So AVB gives Garbage (kalou) a chance. I would rather be very happy if atleast Lukaku plays all the league matches before clueless critter Kalou !! And like everyone here, would be very happy to have Kalou out of Chelsea completely let alone CL squad..
