I notice Pat Roberts scored a hat trick tonight in a 3-2 win over Spurs, I know he is young but he has turned 17 now would it be to soon to give him a run out against Sheffield United?? He is seen as the most promising prospect by a lot of us which is saying something considering the strength of our youth teams. I'm not suggesting he's ready but you could name 9-10 players who have broken into premiership teams at the age of 17 surely a League 1 side at home in the cup you could give him a run out it would give him a massive boost
If we complete a deal for Mitroglou and it's deemed that he's not trained with the team enough to start against Southampton, I'd rather he had his first chance to start bedding in to the first team. I get the feeling that Dembele is ahead of Roberts in the queue anyway. That said, someone like Cottager or roscafre is better placed than me to comment on Pat and Moussa's relative merits.
He actually only turns 17 on February 5th, we play Sheffield United on the 4th. What a birthday present that would be. Mind you if he won the man of the match award, he wouldn't even be allowed drink the bubbly.
Captain is Roberts not a right winger????? We could play him against Sheffield United instead of Dejagah or at least give him half an hour. Your right though I would play all our new signings against Sheffied no matter how many that might be.
Actually, I realised this morning that we might not be able to play the new boys. I think there's a rule that in a cup replay you're not allowed to play anyone who wasn't registered for your club at the time of the original match. If that's the case then I hope we stick with a familiar mix of experience and youth, although perhaps with a few more of the first choice players - definately Hangeland and Burn - than in the original match. With four whole days before the next game there's less need to rest the first team. As for Roberts being a right winger, I said that Cottager and rosc were better placed than me to comment on the youngsters!
Pat does play on the right. That said he's got two good feet and unlike some we could think of, he takes men on and beats them on either side. Equally he can shoot with either foot. Guess what I'm getting at is that he will make the perfect inside forward, No. 10 in current parlance. In time though. Right now he hasn't got the physical strength of Dembele. He's undoubtedly a fantastic prospect and the Club's priority ought to be to continue his development, gradually moving up to the U21s and above all keep him here. Leap-frogging him isn't the answer. Well not just yet.
Correct Pat is equally at home as a 2 footed player, but starts mainly on the right often switching during the game to the left. Must agree with Cottager in a year or so could become a star inside foward. same height as Sergio Aguero, and currently on the watch radar of Man U /City,Spurs & Lverpool. our next Jonny Haynes ?
please log in to view this image Trust the Club got their finger out and young Pat has signed Professional forms.
Pat shares his birthday with Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Tevez & Januzaj. Hopefully he turns out to be as good as those boys.
The club announced that this afternoon Pat signed a deal with the Cottagers untill 2016,now that is good news.
Good news that he has signed a pro deal but until 2016? He's hardly going to peak within the next two years. Parker - 3 years, Roberts - 2 years: Fulham logic.
Spot on FI. Normally you'd expect 4 years, and young Hyndman was given 3 years. Which takes his contract up to 2016 as well. Daft, but as you say nonetheless good news.
Must disagree about peaking in 2 years all the realy top liners were making their mark at 18/19. So hoping that our 2 lads can be added to that list. But it would have been nice if the club had the forsight to have extended.
