From both the players and fans today. The players didn't turn up! As for the fans some go to moan at the ref passionately for 5 mims but will not get behind the team for 1 min!!! Discuss
What fans??? I was with my family in the family stand and we made more noise than the packed out terrace :S
totally agree mate the worst performance i have seen from us since that 6 nil humiliation away at huddersfield and as for our fans where the hell were they no noise at all unless we started singing on the left side.no passion no heart no fight from the team a bloody disgrace.i need a drink after that i am totally +ucked off
Yet again Nikki Bull deservedly gets Man Of The Match. He was excellent again but the rest were seemingly not up for the fight. Beavon and Strevens up front are not going to get us promoted, Betsy needs to play on the RIGHT and the team need to want it more.
With you there Rocky. I am seriously annoyed at that performance, it was unacceptable. I thought the drive home would calm me down but the further along the M40 I got the more pissed off I got, especially when I heard all the other results. We should be 7 points clear of the plyoffs now but on that display we will be lucky to make the top 7. Players have off days but this was worse, there was no passion, desire or commitment on show. It was a joke. Stevenage were just a bunch of thugs and we just weren't up for it and let them dictate the game. Where's that drink!!
wandermagic i am glad i am not the only one p+++ed off with this result and i agree stevenage were thugs and could have had 3 red cards but the cold hard facts are that we didnt want it and certainly didnt deserve anything from the game we were atrocious and looked like a side struggling in the bottom three,in fact i would go as far as saying when we were in the bottom 3 last season in a division higher we had more fight more commitment and more passion and fought till the final whistle ,today even when we had eleven men against ten we still didnt want it,for the first time this season i have to question the players and the management because they were a disgrace to our club and our fans.RANT OVER
wandermagic i am still festering 4 hours after that woeful performance,i could think of a few words to describe our performance today but i darent put them on here cos i would be banned for life
A few beers and a curry hasn't helped my mood either Rocky. I can accept a defeat, but I can't accept today's performance. Too many players weren't up for it. When you're in the auto places and at home with 10 games of the season left, putting in a performance like that is ridiculous. Stevenage came with a clear game plan. I went to the away game and they got taught a lesson by us, which they learnt a lot from as they sure knew how to play us today. So fair play to them but we made it far too easy for them and it doesn't excuse our lack of effort. One shot on target says it all. This result and performance has annoyed me more than any other this season by a long way.
I must have missed that one shot on target. In the games against Barnet and Stevenage we have had a total of 3 shots on target and that is unacceptable. PITTMAN MUST START AGAINST SHREWSBURY!!
Take out Nikki Bull and replace him with an average league 2 keeper, and where would we be in the league? Honestly? Things have got to turn around quickly for me to be convinced that this squad does not need serious attention in the summer IF promotion is achieved.
Rendell and Beavon are so dynamic when playing with each other, our best pairing by a mile, just look at the games yet they haven't got time together recently. If we were to start them both, then bring Pittman on with a decent amount of time left in the game to make an impact, we should be able to get the best out of the three strikers. Another way however, is to get rid of betsy and ainsworth from the team and play a 4-3-3. It's not a question about ability, but i reckon a way to play the eye-catching football waddock is seeking is to have a compact midfield, feeding onto strikers. Rendell, Pittman and Beavon do not play in the air, they are simply not those kinds of players. All of them have been starved of supply in recent weeks, and having wingers pumping crosses in when they don't reach the strikers is completely useless. However, I don't think ability was the real reason we lost that game. We lost it from a heartless performance, derived mainly from uninspiring and inept performances from key players such as ainsworth, lewis and bloomfield, and also from the fact that waddock looked like the game was lost before we even conceded, and was slumped in the bench when he really should have been shouting at the players. We made Mousinho look like iniesta, that's how poor our midfield was today. Not to mention the stagnant defending for the goal, where mousinho had the space of half the pitch to pick his shot. Next match i would go for: Bull Foster (until Sandell is back) , Johnson, Westwood, Mccoy Bloomfield, Lewis, Montrose Pittman, Rendell, Beavon Waddock really needs to sort the team out quickly, otherwise it will be like lambert all over again. Lastly, about the lack of noise from the fans, we pay money to see the team play, they need to show us an honest performance. Then we will sing.
can somebody tell me what strevs does for our team ,either i am stupid or he is crap please tell me its the latter
You're not stupid, he is poor. Its no coincidence we never score goals when he's up front, he's way too defensive to ever be a good goalscorer. Take for example today, we played a ball in the first half into the area low, around the six yard box. Any good striker would gamble on that ball and try to score, he wasn't even in the area. The annoying thing was that pittman and rendell were obviously cringing at this, they would have probably been there to bury the chance, yet they're on the bench even though time after time they prove they are better than strevens.
i haven't been able to drag myself onto the message boards as I was so f*cked off with yesterdays performance. Predictably GW dropped Leon for Winfield. Yes he is an up and coming player but his distribution is blooy awful. Last couple of minutes and all he has to do is launch it back towards their box. Yes, you guessed it, he slices it out for a throw in...duh Betsy is half the player on the left and Strevens on the right????? WTF is that all about. What exactly have Leon, Pitmann and Rendell done to piss off Waddock? It's the first time i've ever questioned Waddock, but after that totally inept performance and our serious lack of scoring opportunities over the past few games i've seen really worries me. Barnet was another lucky result as was Macc away. GW the luck is running out so what are you gonna do? As for the fans, apart from a handful of people nobody seems to want to join in. A thoroughly depressing weekend made only slightly better by seeing the gooners are going to win sweet FA again
haha the gooners result was the only thing that cheered me up as well slasher.i am glad its not just me questioning waddocks tactics and managerial skill or rather lack of.leon jp and rendell should all be in the side and betsy has to play on the right i dont know what the thinking is playing strevs he doesnt look like he could score in a brothel
All the alcohol from last night has made me forget all our shots on target yesterday. Oh hang on...............
Maybe it's the same old problem of off pitch problems manifesting themselves on the pitch. Some players will be more affected than others and feel "why bother" some will think it's time they moved on to somewhere more stable. Whatever it is and however many are affected, the problem is as soon as one is affected, it will have an affect on one more and when two are not giving 100% it has a drastic affect on the overall morale of the team. It must be morale because they were very good for 20 minutes against Aldershot. Maybe Waddock is the one affected by the off pitch problems. That would be a massive problem. We can speculate but someone on the inside knows there is a problem and will know where it lies. A heartless performance is the start of a slippery slide. Someone needs to get a grip and fast or it's League 2 again next year. Based on what I saw we really need Betsy and we need him on the right side, but he needs to be fired up. Unfortunately, football has become a well paid "job" and maybe it isn't necessary to put in 110% for 90+ minutes. It then becomes difficult to motivate all eleven players on the pitch. Playing for pride seems a time of the past unless playing against a major team in the cup when that seemingly rare discipline of self motivation takes over and gives the supporters something to shout about. Everyone likes underdogs who give everything but seem indifferent to a team just doing their job and not to the best of their ability. It's a vicious circle and only the team can put it right by pulling together and putting in that 110% effort we all appreciate.
Not a good result at all. Ten games left and they are all huge now, we need to go on a little winning run and pull clear of the playoff places, as teams will start to take advantage of our slip ups soon, we can't keep getting away with it & need to be more consistent. For what it's worth I think that the Shrewsbury match next Saturday could define our season.
I think you could be right about defining the season, DJ. Saturday we will see what our players are made of, the way they respond to the Stevenage debacle will tell us a lot about them as men and footballers. The problem is, Shrewsbury are in the same boat after their beating at Torquay. It could be a cracker or it could be a game of both teams being scared to lose. Either way, if anyone takes 3 points then that could send them on the way to a top 3 finish.
