How can an ordinary Argyle fan get elected to this supporters board. With nominations having to be in during the next week how does the ordinary fan find enough fans to nominate him to be considered. It is obviously geared towards those that are in already recognized organizations where nomination votes are more easily obtained. Even if you obtain the nominations required.....what chance then would you have of being elected........none whatsoever.....is the end result. Twenty nominations are required.....that is a lot of mates that you interact with on a Saturday afternoon.....no time to watch the match.
You must really hate me to do that to me........too long a commute........anyway as I said you need a block vote to achieve a result.
I'd vote for you too plym as I don't like you either..........(only kidding) This is a serious point however. It seems to me that you have to belong to a supporters club or website. The chances of anyone locally getting elected is dependant on them being a member of pasoti. It doesn't say that on the tin but that is the only venue for enough people to be gathered to make a difference. pasoti will nominate and then vote their candidate(s) onto the committee. If you are not one of the in clique then you stand no chance at all. The smaller supporters clubs will also struggle. I would have to say that this is known by Brent and it seems he is ignoring it. How independant will this elected forum be? Not very and you wonder if that is the intention. I haven't doubted Brent so far and have given him the benefit of the doubt along the way but not in this case I'm afraid. Lip service being paid to real fans involvement just to keep a promise.
Are we really saying that PASOTI is not open to 99% of Argyle fans? i.e. that only those with extreme views have difficulty? Please note I don't have an opinion on this, I genuinely don't know.
The elections will involve people nominated but some of the positions will be from supporters groups as I understand it. The point I was making about pasoti was that to some extent you would have to be a member of there to even take part. They have their candidates no doubt already in mind and it is such a closed shop that whoever pasoti nominate, although it won't be as a pasoti member as such, they will no doubt be elected because there will be canvasing almost exclusively for them. There is no other site big enough to influence the vote even if they wanted to. Even if a number of people joined pasoti to try to make a difference they are so indoctrinated in the ways of Newell and Webb that any post not singing the party line would be set upon by the pack. There are some 1500 members of pasoti compared with about 350 for ATD and a small handfull on here. Whoever pasoti get elected will be expected to sing the Newell/Webb tune and that is fully in accordance with Brent's thoughts. They both seem to have sold their souls to him for the exchange of a title and preferencial treatment in the Director's Box for example. I don't always agree with things posted on ATD but that charge I think is quite accurate. Newell and Webb were both up front when it came to chasing off other bidders and supporting Brent's. I think that Brent uses them now when it suits him as the supposed voice of the masses. Sounds a bit conspiratorial I know but Brent did not get where he is by not employing his own brand of PR and using the best possible tools to achieve his wishes without a fight. They are both yes men and there are many who hang on their word because they are "in the know". I just think that any supporter representation will be who Brent wants it to be and thereby he is keeping his promise to allow engagement and scrutiny from the masses.
