i had braintree to win this game. see the match thread in the early pages for confirmation. so im not surprised by the result. although they are part time, they have a pretty good home record. they finished 6th last season - 1 place outside the play offs. they have stuffed the top sides at their place. i think they beat luton last season 3-0 and luton ended up as champions. if you look closely at their form and how well braintree are doing, its no embarrassment in losing to them. fair shout to them. this is the highest league that they have ever played in and they are taking to it really well. yes on paper we should be winning this game. but on the pitch braintree are a well drilled and a well organised side. but what im surprised about is the manor in our defeat. braintree didnt sound like they played well, we just played a lot worse. maybe the penalty decision effected the team. maybe not. but that is no reason to put in that 2nd half display. it was embarrassing is the way we bent over for them and took it royally in the ass. we gave up and in DC's own words in his post match interview - "in the last 30 mins we looked clueless". how can a part time team who trains once or twice a week be well drilled and well organised yet our club, who believe it or not, are full time pro's cant organise a piss up in a brewery! if someone was their today watching their 1st ever football game and was asked which team was the part timers, they would have picked us for sure.
they have wednesdays off which i think is wrong. they should be training everyday apart from match day. i think they should be in training the day after a match too. they dont have to actually to training in a physical way but they could work on tactics for the next game, watch the dvd of the game from the day before to discuss where they could improve etc. i think its wrong that they get wednesdays off and sundays too. especially after their performances. they should be made to go in. in fact the players if they cared should want to go in on their days off.
