The Eagles are working on a surprise deal which could see Glenn Murray go the other way in a part-exchange plus cash deal as Palace target a strike: Wickham's impressive performances for Sunderland last season made him a target
Managerless Crystal Palace are ready to offer Glenn Murray plus cash for Sunderland target Connor Wickham.

Supremo Steve Parish and director of football Ian Moody are working on the surprise deal and hope to tempt Gus Poyet into an exchange.

Murray was back from a lengthy injury and on the bench for Palace at Arsenal - but he will slip down the pecking order if Wickham signs.

And the Eagles will let experienced Murray head for Wearside - plus around £6million in cash for Wickham, a name on the Palace wish list all summer.

Murray is a cult hero at Selhurst Park after leading them towards promotion but he has lost his place behind Marouane Chamakh, Fraizer Campbell and Dwight Gayle.

Palace want £8 million-rate Wickham badly and Sunderland may be prepared to deal despite the England under-21 cap starting at West Brom.

Murray may be the deal-clincher. Poyet knows him from past jousts and the respected front man - valued at £2m - could be a useful addition to his squad.

    Hahaha.

I'd take Murray as a back up striker, he's a very good goalscorer, but as part of a deal for one of Englands most promising young strikers? Don't be ****ing stupid.

They can have Graham and a mill for Murray like.
