I’m looking into getting tickets for Palace on Boxing Day for what’ll be my first time attending a Spurs game since we lost to Chelsea in 2019…yeah I know bad omens and all that. But I haven’t been back in the country for a while so I have to go when I can. Looking into transport options and when I’ve been to Boxing Day games in the past (a long time since my last one to be fair) we used to drive in. It was well over a decade ago so I can’t remember where it was we parked. Have any of you driven in any time recently and know of any tips on finding parking? Might still just risk the public transport anyway which is what I always did when I lived in London, but coming in from further away this time so wanted to explore other options. Any tips appreciated, cheers
Aren't all overground train lines in London closed on Boxing Day ?? Local match day parking (the schools etc) may not be open as for normal weekends. It might be worth pinging the club to see what they know.
There is a no parking zone on matchdays that extends for at least a mile in every direction. There are paid parking areas within the zone but I've never used one so I don't know if they need to be booked or how expensive they are. Last time I went on Boxing Day I parked just outside the zone and walked.
Yeah that’s what we did too. Some sort of community centre. Can’t remember where it is though and I’m not in touch with the person who drove in and arranged it anymore so can’t ask. What we’ll probably do is National Rail then tube so the Overground isn’t any more of an issue than it usually would be for me. Means I can take full advantage of the upward pouring pints too.
I park in Middlesex Hospital car park, around 25/30 mins walk from the stadium. Conveniently placed if coming in from A10 and north circular. Cost is something like £8 for 5 hours.
Maybe it’s just TFL that’s on then. Will have to look into it closer to the time. EDIT: Looks like Southern are running from Gatwick or Sutton into London Bridge so that’s an option. Or drive to Wimbledon and get on the District Line from there. I’ll be staying south of London so none of these are awful options, I’d drive round to North London if I had to but would rather not if possible.
