Good news. On a three year deal. Positive I think.

Very positive. I've got a really good feeling about Parker slotting perfectly into our midfield. Here's hoping he's match fit for Saturday.

Although a three year deal is a bit long for a 32 year old and I hope we didn't pay to much I think this could be a good signing!

Forget about the details of the deal I think getting players like Parker and Bent who have an outside chance of making the World Cup but know they have to have a good season may work out for us.

Would have preferred it to have been last summer. Still better late than never and the big positive he'll bring, as I said before, is leadership in the middle.

Martin Jol said: “I’m delighted that Scott has joined us. He’s a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball. It is wonderful to see a player of his stature playing for Fulham Football Club as he has shown his qualities in the Premier League and for the England team for many years. I’m happy that he’s here and joins us for training ahead of our first home match of the season.”

He is a bit on the old side but he can still do a job. Good signing.

Would've preferred Huddlestone but there we are. We can't have paid much at all if we didn't want to pay £5m for Hudd.

Parker's a very useful player if you just let him do what he's good at and have others get on with the creative side of the game.
Experienced, extremely professional, a leader, always gives 100% and never moans about anything.
Started down the coaching route too, so your youth players will benefit from having him around.
Gets a good reception at all of his old clubs, even when the move hasn't worked out for him.

Good luck to him and yourselves, especially in your next game!

Agreed with the general feeling that this is good news. Does this mean we can expect to give debuts to two big-name former Spurs players against Arsenal on Saturday? I hope so - it's one of my rare visits to the Cottage.

It does captain (if they're match fit).

On the subject of the Arsenal match - I had a strong feeling after Saturdays results that we could turn Arsenal over this weekend, especially if they don't sign anyone in time. We were a best price 7/2 to win - just checked and we've been backed into 5/2. I still think that's a fantastic price (as long as they don't sign Rooney and Suarez by then)!

Alongside Berbatov and Taarabt, we've a strong Spurs vibe now!

Not unhappy with Parker. He is an improvement on Sidwell (who must be concerned for his Fulham future now) and is certainly a Fulhamish character. I'm not sure he's what we need and my judgement of the signing is entirely dependent on the fee.

I am guessing that the addition of Parker gives a clue as to how Jol is looking to play this season. I expect to see a 4-2-3-1 away (similar to what we saw at Sunderland) and 4-4-2 at home, with Boateng and Parker forming the base of our team. Maybe Kasami will see more time in CM, to see if he can be the creative player we need? I doubt we spend the money needed to bring in a big name midfielder now.

Overall, I'm happy to have Parker's personality in the dressing room.

Sorry, not impressed with this signing. Think he's past his best, injury prone, has slowed down and is probably better off playing at Championship level. I've Spurs mates who were telling me last season when he came back that he was a big problem, giving away freekicks and had lost a yard of pace, and they'd be glad if he left this season. Hope I'm wrong. WE need at least 2 creative central midfield players and he isn't one of them.

Parker's problem was our change of style IMHO, SBM. He was extremely effective when his job was to shield the defence and lay it off to either Modric or one of our wingers, under Redknapp.
Villas-Boas requires a bit more from the players in that position and we lost Modric's creativity and didn't replace it, which put more pressure on Parker.
He needed to press higher up the pitch, as I'm sure you've heard about our manager's love of the high defensive line, and be more involved in attacks. Neither suited him.

A lot of Spurs fans are happy to see him go (including me) because he no longer fits into the team and we've signed a suitable replacement in Capoue, who impressed on his debut.
It's not because Parker's suddenly become a bad player, as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly my thoughts which is why Im very, very glad Fulham did QPR a favour. You can bet in 2 or 3 years time most fans will be praying he moves elsewhere when hes a headless chicken who cant even get close to players because his legs have gone.

i'm not impressed either. I hope the feeling changes over the course of the season. Many Spurs mates say his legs have gone and is good for 60 minutes or so. You do get the feeling Parker is a Murphy replacement. Parker is a leader and vocal and I feel we've missed that, he will win ball and get us moving forwards quicker which is something we've struggled with for a few years now.

Concerned we're not bringing the age down. We're old in MF, Boateng 30, Sidwell 30, Parker 32, Duff 34, Karagounis 36. Parker didn't score in 50 games for Spurs - I appreciate he's not a goal scorer but Sidwell and Karagounis prove they do get goals given the chance. I'm slightly confused about where Parker fits in, I got the impression Boateng was in the holding role (at least against Real Betis) and Sidwell pushed forwards - although I don't think he's good enough to create chances. So it begs the question on formation Jol's going to play. Assume Parker and Boateng play and i guess Jol builds around them.

Definatly not one of my choice signings "age, injury problems ".hopefully he can teach
Jack Grimmer some of the aspects that made him a great player a couple of seasons ago.

I think Hangeland would be a better mentor for Grimmer based on the fact that Grimmer is a central defender

Unless you mean in terms of commitment and work rate in which case i totally agree.

Whilst this is obviously a concern, I think it's worth pointing out that only two of those are likely to start. Duff will share time with Dejagah, whilst Sidwell and Karagounis are now squad players who will not likely be here next season. The rest of our midfield is made up of players like Dejagah 27, Taarabt 24, Kaca 21, Mesca 20 & Kasami 21.

    Scotty Parker - A Blog

“Everyone has had their fun with Scott Parker and his three-point turns, but nobody at Tottenham will be particularly pleased to see him go. No, he’s no longer really relevant to Andre Villas-Boas’ first-team, but he’s the kind of player who fans can’t help but have affection for.

Fans want to win, and they want to see their side score goals and pick-up points, but the one commodity they absolutely demand is commitment – and that’s the quality which embodies Scott Parker. He’s not the quickest, he’s not the most skilful, and he’s not the easiest on the eye, but if a bouncing ball is about to be volleyed towards his side’s goal, you can bet your life that Parker will be willing to throw his body in the way of it.

How can you not like that about him? He’s so whole-hearted and determined to win, and on a football pitch he’s a ball of competitive spirit.
Spurs may have been willing to allow Parker to leave White Hart Lane, but that doesn’t mean that Fulham are getting an inferior product – even if he has now passed his prime.

Parker will provide Martin Jol’s side with a very tangible rigidity when he plays, and he’ll give Fulham a far more prominent backbone in deep-midfield. Yes, he ‘loves a tackle’, but he’s also more positionally-astute than he’s given credit for, and his habit of making important interventions in-front of his centre-backs isn’t just a series of coincidences.

He’ll do well at Craven Cottage, and almost every Spurs fan will wish him well – and that should tell you everything you need to know about the kind of character and player that he is.”

I'm hoping he can feel the Murphy shaped hole we had in midfield last season. If he can do that (and I'm hopeful he can) he will be a good signing...

3 years for a 32 year old though...

Parker will be 2 months shy of 36 when this contract expires.

That's the biggest area of concern for me, ahead of the fee paid. I guess Parker is going to retire with us now?
