Seems as if he was wanted at a number of clubs, so there should be something to him if he can adjust to the Championship and England.
Good luck to him, but expect a longish period of adustment if he has never actually played outside of South America.
On the face of it, good news - I don't pretend to understand the circuitous route to get here though. Why sign for Granada then transfer to us virtually straight away?
Maybe as the Ecuadorians needed the Spanish paperwork, that only the Italians could do? Or maybe he was cheaper in Euros than Pounds. Murky world that, much like the Tozser and Palma thing. It'd be great to know the real reasoning behind both.
No, but he did have the Spaniards jumping through Hoops. Mind you, anyone can manage that these days...
Could it be that he now has a Spanish passport, making him a EU national? I did see a reason given for the strange route that set out quite well how the different tax regimes in various countries could be used to advantage. I cannot find it again, and certainly lost track by the time I had reached Italy I think.
Do they have different rules on work permits in Spain and Italy? I'm quite intrigued by this signing and share the concerns about him adapting having only ever played in South America. To use the old cliche "how will he deal with Rotherham on a wet windy December night?". Still, it will hopefully be fun finding out.
Now, at about this time last year I got all excited about the signings and look what happened. This year, I'm even more excited, the question is, can all the signings (and Beppe) live up to the potential?
