"We controlled the game and I think they fact they went down to 10 men doesn't do us justice. We were magnificent all day. We could have won by more than three.

"Leon Best was as good as Demba Ba and he could have scored two goals.

"With Ramadan, Ba had a difficult, slow start and he had a couple of cameos to get him up to speed. But he helped us control midfield today.

"Peter Lovenkrands should have come on but it was a good game for Ben Arfa, the crowd were in good voice. He deserves that. He's got some work to do to get back into the team.

"We have spent a lot of money on our squad. I wanted to change our style of play - I thought our passing and movement was excellent."

    ----------\\

Ive bolded a few concerns here.

Lovenkrands to come on? instead of HBA or marveaux?<doh>

And spent lots of money on our squad!!??

Pardew we are doing well dont ruin it with you murmerings of mike ashley please..in fact sign up to this not 606 and get a feel of how much lovenkrands and shola appear in our estimations.

We've spent near enough £20million this summer. Some people don't seem to realise that.

And I think he mentioned Lovenkrands because he scored a brace against Forest. Usually, if someone does well in a mid-week game, they deserve a run-out.

Lovenkrands deserved a cameo after midweek, no reason why he couldn't have come on for Ba with Ben Arfa and Marveaux replacing Obertan and Jonas.

This is clearly bullshit on Pardew's part, can't see why he'd say something like that when he should be as disappointed as we are that money hasn't been made available.

Don't start this **** again Chappaz. Wages, grass seed and a new set of wheels for the tea trolley doesn't count as money being spent on the squad. We've made a net £35m in the transfer market this year.

    Ben Arfa - £5mill
    Cabaye - £4.5mill
    Obertan - £3mill
    Santon - £5mill
    Ba signing fee - £1-2mill
    Marveaux signing fee - £1-2mill

Voila. Easily almost £20million this year alone. Wages not included.

I'm just defending what Pardew said. He said we've spent a lot on the squad, and if we're realistic, he has. A £10mill striker would have been nice to take us up to the £30mill mark, but £20mill was still more than most were expecting.

    Carroll - £35m
    Nolan - £4m
    Enrique - £6m
    Routledge - £2m
A **** load of free advertising for SportsDirect - £100m

Voila. Easily almost £150m this year alone.

    They're not outgoings, they're negative incomings. ;)

Not saying that. Just saying that Pardew HAS spent some money, and he has. Some people need to realise that we have a number of £5mill players in there now, most of them worth a lot more than they cost. Most EPL clubs outside of the top 6 would love to be able to spend £15mill on 3 players, even if they had just made a massive wedge of cash.

Not ideal, but hey, could have been a LOT worse. Could have been £0 instead of £20million.

If you've made £20million, then spent £20million, you've spent £20million, you ****ing helmet. How much you've made previously is irrelevant.

If I make £1000 in my job, and then use 50p of that money to buy some milk, does that mean I haven't actually spent any money on milk? No. I've spent 50p.

No one here is talking about profit. All were talking about is how much has been SPENT on players. The money spent has been £20million. It could have been £0.

I'd say we have spent a fair amount of money, not a lot considering the current climate.
