Bit childish <laugh> but yes, I agree with your second point. It's a chance for Marv or Ben Arfa for sure. I hope it's Marv personally, he's impressed everytime he's played and I think it's time we shown that we have noticed his efforts.

So it's Obertan now. Heard all about Pardew's habits, didn't think he'd play so close to home though.

And with that our only natural right-winger is out.
The question is... now what? I'm guessing Marv will take his place... but we can't rule out Benny after all it was Everton where he opened his account.

Could cause some jealousy in the dressing room and effect our great morale :(

I'd start Benny against Everton. Marv has been better this season but broke up a look of our momentum cutting in from the right against Blackburn.

    And Benny wouldn't do that?

He'd cut inside but not to Marv's extent. Plus he's a better dribbler and has better ball control so would be more likely to get into threatening positions.

If you say so. In my opinion Benny's the most one-footed footballer we've had since Robert.
I'm extremely gutted Obertan's out, he gave our side balance and pace down that flank.

Agreed, I think we'll realise how important he's been to the team, especially in terms of our overall shape and balance, now he's out.

Everyone thinks Obertan's good now because of 1 cross

Sorry but he has been awful ever since he signed

Also why do some people think Gosling lacks pace.. yes sprint speed wise he isn't on Ober's level but he's not as slow as Nolan or Barton. Everton played him there a couple of times and he did a good job if I remember correctly. His energy, work-rate, tackling and defensive abilities will come in hand against the likes of Drente(who might be playing on the LW). I'll personally go for Santon who has great pace, technique, can track back well and surely can't be any worse than Guthrie?

he hasnt been awful, but I dont think he should start every match, hes got blistering pace and ran the slower Stoke defence ragged,
I think he should be used as an impact sub.

Yes he ran faster than them, granted, but theres no point in having that ability if you can't do ANYTHING with the ball once you're past the defender. From what I've seen so far his passing, shooting and crossing (barring the one for Ba) is all poor, surely you can't argue with that

I think people forget that the person that will replace Obertan will be facing Baines. We don't want Ben Arfa running backwards because Baines will be running up and down the touchline. He's not the best person to play against Baines due to his lack of defensive work rate.
