Pardew admits he had been resigned to the fact Barton wouldnt sign..... few weeks previous he was all for a deal being done.... echoes of the Carroll saga

For me, this being the second time this has happened, concludes Pardew is a yes man and the club will only progress when Fat Mike is gone. Pardew has no say in players coming in, going out or new contracts. Mike may aswell sit in the dugout.

End of the next season we can shed likes of Smith, Harper (because he will be too old), Guthrie and Ameobi. Slashes the wage bill.

Throw in to the mix Enrique and Barton being sold or leaving.....

End of next season we will start to be in a strong financial position and hopefully an attractive investment to someone who can replace MA. The replacement may be better, he may be worse, but lets be fair, to be worse would take some doing..... i live in hope.

Expected activity in the closed season is:

    Outgoing: Routledge (£2m), Enrique (£10m), Lovenkrands (£1m), Guthrie (£2m), Raylor (£2m).

    Leaving a squad of:

    GK: Harper, Krul, Foster

Def: Col, Taylor, Williamson, Kadar, Simpson, Gosling (RB)

Mid: Barton (if he isnt sold), Nolan, Tiote, Smith (unfortunately i cant see him going before his contracts done), Jonas, Ferguson, Lua Lua, Ben Arfa

    Att: Ameobi, Best, Ranger

I reckon the fat man will give AP £20m, add to that sales above of say a further £15m. I would like to see us get in:

    Elmander (free)
    Larsson (free)
    Reo Coker (free)
    Upson (free)
Pav or Defoe from spurs (whoever is out of favour)- £8m
    Daniel Sturridge- £11m
    Conor Whickham £6m
Johnson or Danns from Birmingham- £5m

Leaves £5m for a LB replacement. Few loans to bolster the squad??

I wish people would stop thinking dan gosling is a right back! His best position is centre midfield.

I agree with this, most of those players I wouldnt have but this a LOT more realistic than fairytales about Gervinho and Menez etc....

I dont like it, but these calibre of players are probably closer to what we can expect.

Still amazing though! He scored an absolute rocket this season, who says he won't next!? (Nothing to do with my bias towards Italian players...)

Can't imagine Harper, Guthrie and Ameobi being on mega wages - however, I wouldn't be crying in my beer if they all went! If we get any bid at all for Smudger, we should take it! It is going to be an eventful 3 months!!

This article is pretty ****. We have just finished 12th in our first season back and are expecting a busy transfer market, you should be excited. Some of our fans always find something to moan about, it irritates the hell out of me.
