“Marveaux was unfortunate to get injured just before the game because he would have started the game.” “However, the team did so well it means I have a decision to make.” “The team will be pretty much as it was.” “We have to build on Villa now, that one is done.”

God this is really starting to irk me, is Pardew so blind to the fact jonas just isn't a force going forward anymore and offers nothing more than an extra body when defending. Our strongest team without question would have marv out on the left in place of jonas, i don't think ive ever seen a professional miscontrol a ball as many times as he did on Tuesday it was truly awful! Pardew really doesn't seem to have any balls when it comes to tactics and just coz we won seems to be content keeping a team which was really struggling towards the end of the game. Besides which in this bleak season marv has been one of the shining lights! Always looking a threat and improving game by game. I don't want to sound like a Pardew hater because im really not but this decision seems beyond reason

    Rant over haha

Jonas is obviously not getting dropped, so possibly switch Marv. for Perchinho?

He doesn't even offer an extra body when defending anymore. Don't let that block on the line fool you.

Not fair on Perchy and although I've always liked Jonas, it's only right that he gets 'rested' and makes way for Marveaux.

I can see the sense in it. I actually thought Jonas did well defensively the other night. Got back and covered Santon well, particularly 2nd half when under the cosh. And lets not forget they'd have had a 2nd but for his block.

Jonas still has something to offer and I'd rather see him starting games then Sammy. The guy still has something to offer and is good BACKUP, as marveux is injured can't think of anyone in the squad I'd rather have starting LW.

No, he was just wondering aimlessly around looking at the sky and the ball just hit him. Lucky for us eh?

Pardew has absolutely no bottle and will not make changes to the team for saturday. Jonas will always play as Colo may get upset at his mate being dropped.
Mata will crucify Perch in midfield. I would love to have been a fly on the wall at Villa at half time to know what Pardew said to completely alter our play in the 2nd half. We went from sublime football to a scene from Zulu with wave after wave of attack on our defence. I don't go with the comment " The French lad's legs had gone" They had been playing week in, week out in France.

Don't we make the same statement about a certain Alan Smith, and we all know where that ended...

Jonas doesn't go in with well mistimed tackles as soon as he gets on the pitch though.

He still needs 'resting' all the same.

Sorry this ridiculous "blame for Pardew for everything" theme is beginning to get out of control and getting more and more ridiculous. He set the team up well, had clearly prepared them well and we played well. Unfortunately the players made some silly errors at bad times which turned the game in the oppo favour. Pardew may have had an average to poor season on a personal level but some of the current stuff about him is straight out of a best selling fantasy novel.

Villa was quite simple for me. Lambert got into Villa to start getting stuck in. They did and the other team is allowed to take part. Our newcomer Sissoko, who was heavily influential, tired badly (to be expected and obvious to Stevie Wonder). We had to make a few changes, **** happens. The main thing which turned the game had nothing to do with Pardew, and everything to do with Debuchy giving Villa momentum by giving away a silly penalty when the lad was going nowhere. This undoubtedly gave the oppo belief they needed and swayed the momentum.

Our support of managers (or lack of) beggars belief at times.

I say. Bang on, old chap.

Besides this, I still haven't heard who was supposed to come on for a fit and able Jonas anyway. Yes, he's not playing well, but I shudder to think where Sammyobi would have been when "that" block was needed....

We've most of the squad coming back now and some new faces in o add depth. So let's give Pards a chance.

I'll be annoyed if Jonas is left on when Marveaux is fit. He's been so much better than Jonas this season it's simply unfathomable to think that Pards will opt to leave him out. Honestly don't believe we can afford to sit back with a defensive set up against Chelsea, because regardless of who they have out injured or at ACON they still have players capable of causing some serious damage, regardless of our new signings... and it's naive to think that a few new signings new to the league will be capable of nullifying Chelsea for the full 90 minutes if we set up like Villa in the second half for the entire game.

Sometimes Pardews statements and line ups baffle me, but what can you do.
