good interview the more i hear this guy the more i'm confident he'll do the job right.when you consider the likes of fat sam/souness et all just seemed to spout the predicable crap that they thought fans wanted to hear, pardew on the other hand (like hughton before him) tells it how it is no fairytale bullshit.Wasn't sure about him at first and it's took awhile but i've come round to liking the guy.
    here's what he's had to say -

"It's a little bit colder up here - but in terms of the friendliness of the people and the area it's absolutely different class and I've really enjoyed it.

"The loss of Andy Carroll was a blow, in terms of the period that I’ve been here. But outside of that, the reaction of players and performances have been top drawer, you can only manage with the agenda that you’re given.

It is a tight environment here financially here, they’ve had some previous years where it's gone not very well, especially on that side where signings have come and gone for huge money, so it’s natural for the owner to be a bit cautious and on my side, it’s my job to get that enthusiasm back into the owner; outside of those financial restraints my staff have done a great job.

"The one thing that is sometimes forgotten is that we only got promoted last year, if we win tomorrow and results go our way we could end up sixth on Sunday night; it would be a great weekend for us if we can manage to get a win.

"....Mike (Ashley) couldn't get his head round what the football world is about in terms of some of the finances needed - it just doesn't make sense at times.

"The finances of the the football club are so complicated and Mike and Derek (Llambias) are starting to understand and learn from experiences - having made errors.

"This summer is a big summer for us. Everybody is going to looking at who we bring in and what types of player. I’d like to think that my record in transfer window is pretty good and that we can get the right type of players for what is a fantastic club.

"For the summer, (Mike Ashley) made it clear when Andy (Carroll) went that that money will be reinvested in the club* and I have no doubt that it will be.

(*talkSPORT's own transcript of this piece wrongly used the word squad)

"I have no doubt about getting some money; transfers are very, very complicated though. We started the process as soon as I arrived and there’s a history of scouting already here, Graham Carr - who brought in Cheick Tiote - has got some fantastic eyes.

"In terms of nailing the players down, sometimes there's five or six clubs involved and the agents manoeuvring - they want to get the best possible deal. Sometimes you can take a player in the last week of that window and it took four or five months.

"Our process has started already for next season and we want to get them here as quick as we can because by the looks of it we’re going to bring in four or five players and as a manager you want to bed those in as quickly as possible.

"You have to admire the players here in terms of their commit because sometimes I look at the teamsheet of the opposition and we look light compared to most Premier League teams and yet our results have been very solid and that's because of the character of the team and a desire to not release any points.

"The public here can help massively at home and we want that tomorrow because we really feel it's a great opportunity for us and we want to try and take it."

Class stuff. I really do like the man, and as much as i was gutted at Hughton getting sacked, we could have done a lot worse!

I have to admit he's surprised me. I think we all forgot how good of a manager he was until it all went tits up with the owners at West Ham.

    Class interview!

I was spitting feathers over what happened to Hughton, but Pardew is doing a really solid job in my opinion. Also I hate to admit it but I think we have played with more assurance under him and his tactical knowledge seems to be better than Hughton's. With support from Ashley we could go somewhere under him.

Heard the interview, the way he was talking the recruitment for next season has started already. Will be nice to get some new faces in early, rather than watching David Craig outside SJP on deadline day.

I want to see what the squad looks like after a full pre-season with Pardew and how they go about playing the game before I serve judgement.

He's saying the right things still but until we have evidence that he's done what he stated he'll do I just say 'Keep up the good work and lets keep going'.

see where your coming from and i felt the same but when he first came in it could easily have fell apart what with the squad togetherness under chris then throw in the carroll transfer and the wheels could quite easily of fallen of.the fact the togetherness is there still (if not stronger) and the results since carroll it's a testiment to pardew imo.
ultimately he'll be judged on these 4 or 5 players he's talking about

Exactly. The atmosphere Pardew came into could not have been nice for him. Not because of anything he'd done but because of the fans and players justified anger at the way Hughton had been treated. But he's not only managed to keep the team spirit together despite a difficult January window and losing Carroll, he has also improved our on the pitch performances.

I agree with OT that his next major test will be how well he does in the summer transfer window but i'm confident at the moment that he will do okay.

Huh? Can someone explain this? the club or squad bit?

As for Pardew i don'trust him but he's obviously a decent manager.
