Mick Lowes is interviewing Pardew tonight on BBC Ncl about why he left. It's gonna be online too if anyone fancies a listen.

    Thought I'd let you know.

he did do a pre match interview earlier saying that he joned palace because 99% of the fans will be behind him, also saying something around the difficult financial restrictions at newcastle and he wanted to prove he is one of the leading managers in the league!

Just mentioned 'the finance I had'...
Clearly a dig at Mike and rightly so.

Give us the jist of what he said mate. I missed it. I know it will get repeated but probably won't listen to it.

He played a straight bat. Had a dig at not having cash to spend and said when he told Mike he wanted to leave Mike basically said it was for the best (indicating Ashley was maybe wanting him out anyway?).
He slagged the local press off big time, citing the p45 front page but intimated that his bosses could have managed the whole press banning thing better as it allade it hard for him.
Compared himself to great managers like kenny, gullit and Fat Sam.
Overall he did come across well to be fair and held back having a pop at the fans.
I get the impression he just wanted a change and that Palace are his club in his backyard.
    Fair play to him.

Fair play to Pards, that was a thoroughly professional interview. I still think there is more to it than we are being told. I think it could be all tied up with a sale. Maybe though that is just years of craziness at our club making me think too much. Maybe the bloke had his fill of it all and just fancied a change.

To be completely fair to him he has always accepted the criticism from fans. He has noted the mitigating circumstances when there have been some, but always noted that when you are losing games and have been on a bad run, you're gonna get some stick and booing. I think he didn't like the personal stuff, neither did I, but again there is always an unsavoury element to any support.

Have to say I agreed with him about the local press, they're ****e.

I thought the questions from Lowes were a bit lame looking back again.
He should have pushed harder on Headbutt, lino pushes and abuse to fellow managers. Speaking purely for myself, his off the pitch conduct is the reason I got pissed off with him.
In my lifetime I don't recall a Toon manager behaving so badly off the pitch in the manner he has.

Where would it have went though ACS. All he would have done is apologised again as he did at the time. I thought he could have been a bit more direct and delved into the finance comments a bit deeper. I was just pleased he didn't get sucked into the blame game.

in the context of his comments about having to stand 'out there' (on the touchline) and take a lot of stick most managers wouldn't do.. he could have at least acknowledged he was part to blame for that stick.
Fans don't suddenly wake up and think 'I hate that bastard'.. it's usually cause and effect.
I've been consistent throughout in that as a mid table manager managing a mid table team he did so/so.
As a manager off the pitch.. a leader of the team... a role model to the fans he was a joke.
His constant blaming of everything but his (at times) awful tactics did him no good in my eyes.
After a shocker of a game all we want to hear is the truth sometimes.
I'd have rather he came out and said 'we were well below par, it wasn't good enough, collectively we all shoulder the blame and look forward to the next game';.. but he just had a habit of pointing the finger elsewhere.
I do agree that it is wrong for media and fans to give it the 'londoner' and 'cockney' tag every 5 minutes. Hell.. I'm a Yorkshire born, Mackem reared arse obsessed lad living up in ****ing hillbillyland and have been for over two decades now so Geographical prejudice is something alien to me <laugh>

I think he was pretty much hated from day 1 by the masses to be fair. He never really got a fair crack off the fans. I didn't want him either but once they are in post I think you have to give them a chance. I don think anyone can say he truly got that. Not all the fans or media fault that mind, Ashley shot Bambi twice with KK and Hughton.

Seems like pardew is now the medias favourite, given that he's gone to his favoured team. What happened to the time they wanted him sacked?

I don't think he was hated from the start. But he wasn't a popular appointment as he replaced a guy who didn't deserve to lose his job.
But he never helped himself win fan approval, as before this interview, I can't remember when he actually addressed our fans.
He must have been so subservient to Ashley, that everything else was given less time and reasoning - balance just wasn't right.
The interview was one of his better judged responses, but it's sad he didn't do this more in the past four years.

I disliked the manner in which he got the job in the first place but like most had no choice but to give the **** a chance. The hatred gained pace however and I soon discovered he was a spineless, maleable, lying wretch and a true artist in horrific bottom feedery and sycophantic psychobabble.

Never was there a true sucker of Satan's warty cock than Pards. May he burn in the deepest pits of Hell's own sodomy dungeons for all eternity.

Anybody hear his post match interview after Palace beat Spurs?

'I didn't have to give our players any fines this week, which was nice, we used to fine players every 42 minutes (at Newcastle), I think we timed it at'.

Obviously 42 minutes is an exaggeration but he is inferring that there's discipline problems up there, or is it just Ashley trying to claw back as much money as possible?

Strange one. In his recent interview on his departure he said the following:

"There's been a lot of talk (about the Newcastle fans) and some of it is completely off the mark," Pardew said.

"When you lose games, there's going to be criticism from the stands but never once did I sense that outside the ground.

"I had tremendous support in my time there and I want to thank all the Geordies for their help and also to (owner) Mike Ashley and everyone at the club who helped me grow as a manager.

"My resilience and character has grown because of the nature of the club."

Pardew's time in the north east was often overshadowed by matters off the field as the club's biggest talents were sold and the manager's influence on bringing in new players was restricted.

"It's a club that's run on fairly tight financial margins," Pardew said.

"We had to really work hard at transfers because the funds for a club that size makes it difficult with the fans - for them to understand you need to build slowly.

"For me personally and professionally I think it was the right time and I think it was the right time for Newcastle too if I'm honest."

Pardew added: "Four years under that type of monetary situation and the fact they're trying to push, and the history and everything else - it's difficult for the manager.

"I've left a good club, I've left it with a good base of young players and some fantastic professionals, who I'm going to miss."

Pardew denied he left Newcastle because Ashley had indicated he was going to sell the club, a theory put forward by former Magpies striker Alan Shearer this week.

"I have not heard that, that's just a rumour," Pardew said.

"Mike never suggested that, it was never in the format, it was a simple equation really.

"Crystal Palace wanted me as their manager, they met the clause in my contract.

"Newcastle told me that that had been met, and quite simply, I had a choice, whether to stay or go."

You could take various pieces of information there several ways. The bold bit seems to suggest he thinks there are some fantastic professionals. You could of course argue the word "some" leaves it open that maybe not all of the group was. Certainly the comments you are talking about suggests there is a more loose attitude "'There's a fantastic set of professionals here, I haven't had one fine this week and I'm finding that very unusual as a Newcastle manager - because we used to fine players every 42 minutes!

'I'm not being disrespectful to Newcastle players, it's just different set up. I just want to free this team up a little bit and if we do that we could play like we did in the last 20 minutes" He was the manager though so how could he not be responsible for the discipline? Unless it is dictated by those above like everything else. Obviously we have had some discipline issues with the likes of Ranger, HBA, Marveaux etc as well as rumours about others like Sissoko.
