    This is what Alan Pardew has said in the Chronicle today:

    “He (Mike Ashley) is very much aware (of the need for new players). The one thing Mike likes in his teams is them to be on the front foot and trying to win the game.”

    “I don’t think he likes tactics where teams set out to defend deep and look to nick something, it’s not the way he is. It’s not his style and it’s certainly not my style.”

    “We have talked about that, so that bodes well.” “He knows we need some attacking options.”

    To be fair it's having set up with a recklessly high defensive line that has contributed to many of our humbling defeats under Pardew. Liverpool 6-0 is one harrowing example.

    God almighty, you couldn't make this up. The man is an absolute clown. As if he expects people to swallow this tripe. Our 'football' under this clueless idiot is some of the most boring and negative tripe I have ever witnessed at St James Park. Thanks to him we've suffered three successive defeats against that lot down the road. I wish he would just disappear.

    Obviously something the Chronicle has pickled up somewhere, and not a direct quote to them from Sir Alan.

    Very attack minded manager is St Alan - stop looking for the negative in everything. Be grateful we have a top top manager. We are on the front foot in most games, played some lovely stuff this year.

    It is great to have him back. He is bang on the money about that relationship with the players. The players clearly like him giving the recent quotes, really put to bed the myth about him losing the dressing room which was started by the doom mongers.
