Probably why he was chosen. Ashley knows that Pards probably won't make much of a noise if he isn't given any transfer power. Just look at how Keegan reacted when he wasn't put in charge of signing players. He quit and won a few mill compensation from the club.

But if Nolan wanted to leave and Pardew were to tell him tough **** we'd end up with a captain that gives less of a **** about his duties and doesn't want to be where he is.

No idea, I prefer to wait until facts come out rather than to speculate. But he had 2 years left on his contract right?

I dont believe any player with a contract at a club can be forced out against their wishes.

A survey has shown that by far the greatest reaason that people move jobs is not for money but because they feel unappreciated by their employers.

    nope
I also think Carr is more a director of football than a chief scout

    Highly doubt Nolan wanted out.

    Agreed.

Carr identifies targets. ashley and llambias decide if they are good enough (financially). Charnley deals with the actual transfer. Charnley, ashley, llambias and Pardew hold contract talks.

    I'm sorry but FFS man!

Nolan has been offered a new contract and if he wanted to stay at the club he has had his chance. All he had to do if he wanted to stay was sign - he didn't so he can go. If we get close 5 mil for him great, that's how much Cabeye cost, and that would be excellent business. Granted, he scored goals and he was a leader. But at the end of the day he is no better than Carroll if he is leaving for monies - tens of thousands of pounds per week is more than enough for anybody to stay where they are IF THEY WANT TO. He still has a contract, so Ashley, Pardew et al can't make him talk to West Ham, he made that choice himself.

The club clearly has set up rules about contracts, and to be honest i'm glad - even if it means we lose out on a few players. I'm sick of people going on about offering footballers more money. They get paid enough already. Enough to stay where they WANT TO BE. I would rather the club is on a sound financial footing, and that is exactly where we're heading. Good news IMO.

How on earth you have reached this conclusion!?

The over reaction to the Nolan news is quite astounding!
