Political move, was he trying to pander to the fans by using a good servant to the club as a pawn???? If he was some will say so what but is it the right way to talk about a former player who generated a lot of profit for the club which allowed you to bring in some of the excellent players currently in the team.
I think the politics he is referring to are between Liverpool and Newcastle rather than Newcastle and the fans, the fact Liverpool paid such a big sum to us for him meant that if it came down to it they'd rather not loan him to us as we've ripped them off already, that's all he means by politics.
