Just been watching their interviews on NufcTv and they are gutted by the defeat, but both are positive about reacting to this disappointing defeat.

Pardew said that we started off poorly, but we were the only team in it the second half. He also said we were the only team passing the ball about nicely and rightly said that it doesn't always go your way when you are on top.

Anyway, I'm gutted but I will be over it tomorrow morning and excited about making our unbeaten Premiership run go on to 13 games :)

Newcastle United will never be defeated!!! (apart from today lol)

Also, League Cup Show, every game got a commentary but ours. Typical...

Can someone do some match ratings? I couldn't get commentary or a stream. It was like the old days when you had rely on teletext to change pages. How was Marveaux? Does everyone rate Obertan again? How was HBA and Santon?

    Was the loss Perch's fault?

From what I've heard Marveaux slowed stuff down because he kept on cutting inside - should play on the left. Obertan came on as a sub and was awful, Ben Arfa went missing. Not heard much about Santon like.

And yeah, everything is Perch's fault ;) haha. Missed Stevie Taylor's heading ability by the look of things

Yeah, he will be OK I think. Class act, just needs to be put in gently and Ba needs to get used to how to link up with him

Santon played ok, some nice runs forward especially in the first half.

Good. Hopefully he will end up being our number one right back (or left back). Don't think that will happend straight away as he is a young lad and needs to get used to the English game and English lifestyle

Krul - 8 - Nothing he could do about the goals, caught some difficult balls.
Simpson - 5 - Raped by Hoillet first half, really struggled.
Colo - 6 - Didn't work with Perch at all, had some decent moments but wasn't his usual self
Perch - 3 - Absolutely dire first half, average in the second. Can't head the ball to save his life.
Santon - 6 - Improved after a dissapointing first half. Got forward well and linked with Jonas decently at times.
Marveaux - 5 - Needs to play on the left. Cut in everytime he got forward and slowed our attacks down.
Cabaye - 7 - Him and Guthrie were great second half and in ET, spraying the ball around nicely.
Guthrie - 7 - Probably MOTM for me. Ran the game second half and great goal.
Jonas - 5 - Really quiet game. Looked uncomfortable when moved to right back.
HBA - 5 - Just never got into it. Barely touched the ball.
Ba - 7 - Worked really hard, and was unlucky not to score. Isolated at times, but not really his fault.

Obertan - 5 - So frustrating. Can't cross to save his life and he seems to not watch the game at times. Got into some good position though.
Sammy - 7 - Looked so, so dangerous. Should have started. Quiet in ET though
Lova - 6 - Pretty quiet but won the penalty and made some nice runs.

Bit disappointed that the lads like Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Santon weren't great. Was really looking forward to some good displays from them

^I was a bit harsh on Santon. He had a good second half, just a little clumsy in the first. Looked threatening when he attacked too.

Marveaux will do so much better on the left, I feel. Doesn't look comfortable on the right. Where did he play vs Forest?

Think he played on the right - not 100% sure though.

You think Ben Arfa is better on the wing that the hole?

Hard to know, need to give the lad more time. He likes to move about a lot so I think the hole is better for him, otherwise we'll be unbalanced when he drifts inside. It's a tough one for Pardew though.

Yeah thats true. We have a great team now apart from 1 or 2. On the wings and attacking midfield we have loads of options so it great for Pardew. Pity Shane Ferguson never got a run out like

I think you have been quite harsh on Perch, I would rate him a 5.5. He was better than both Simpson and Ben Arfa. Fair enough his head is shaped like a 50 pence but he got back a few times to give it back to Krul and did win most of his headers (even if they didn't go exactly where he wanted them to go).

Also I would give Sammy a 6. He looked dangerous for all of about 3 or 4 attacks and then went missing. MOTM for me was Guthrie or Ba. Guthrie controlled the middle of the park from half time onwards and Ba never stopped, he had no support at all in the first half. Everytime we played a ball up to him there wasn't another black and white shirt within 20yards of him. If you noticed in the 2nd half both Marveaux and Ben Arfa were stood close to him on goal kicks and when Krul was kicking out of his hands.

Otherwise I agree with your ratings.

O yeah..... Ref - 0 - Didn't have a clue, gave us free kicks which were dubious, didn't give us free kicks which were stone walls and just generally was poor.
