Apparently as we went straight back up we don't get any. Is this right? Still, not bad to make £30m profit on players this year.
I believe that we would have got the payments over three years with it being too loaded. However if you get promoted I think the second and third years payments are scrapped and replaced with the premiership payment. So we would get just over a third of the payment for the one season in the championship.
Anything other than getting the first year's parachute payment only would be ridiculous and unfair so I assume that is what we will get (have already received).

Parachute payments are a farce anyway. No club should be receiving them. Cant imagine you'll receive anything for next couple years as back in PL so getting all the tv money that comes with it.
Do we still get them when we get automatically relegated to the conference in a few weeks time? Parachute payments had a place a while ago when clubs were getting relegated and then going into administration but relegation clauses are standard now and should sort out most of the issue. So much is said about the finances at Sunderland but their wage bill is going to be slashed by relegation. So in summary, the payments were ok and fair for this season just gone but should be removed for next season. as then they would be grossly unjust.
It also makes it harder for teams from L1 to stay up in the Champ because half of the Champ are getting parachute payments. Clubs near bottom of the league should be managing their finances so that if they do get relegated that have structure in place to deal with that, and not rely on handouts from the Prem. I do think the EfL should get more of the tv money that Prem makes though
