Sky Sports (reliable, I know) are saying that we may try and sign Cisse from Newcastle as a replacement for Bony. I'm not sure how I feel about that. He's had good seasons and bad seasons. There's no question he knows how to score a goal, but there have been times when he's been anonymous in games. He has good feet and decent pace so maybe he'd fit into a passing side like ours.
Coming to the end of his playing career and looking for a payday. Better off keeping Gomis and looking for a younger more ambitious striker in the Summer.
I agree a couple of seasons ago then yes but now I think he is coming towards the latter days of playing in the PL - although he does know how to score against us!
Not for me and the talk of him being Swansea's long term Number 1 striker has apparently (strongly hinted in a number of reports) further agitated Gomis.
I'd like to think Garry is telling Gomis that this is his great chance and to go out there and take it. I hope he does.
Less than £5m Ok; but only as cover to Gomis as, it appears, Olivera is here primarily to cover AM with secondary striker cover duties. A penny more than £5m and its no thanks from me.
Olivera seemed quite exciting when he cam on - only a few minutes but he seems to be the business. Cisse ... meh OK.
Bony is set to complete a £30million move to Manchester City this week and Swansea believe they can get Cissé to fill the gap in the squad as Newcastle do not have a permanent manager to argue the case for keeping him. Cissé, who is on international duty with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations, has admitted his agent is aware of the Welsh club’s interest and with just 18 months on his contract, Newcastle could be tempted to cash in on a player who will be 30 next year. Cissé cost around £9million when he arrived from Freiburg three years ago, but Newcastle would probably sell for around £7million given the length of time on his contract and their reluctance to offer him another one. Cissé is Newcastle’s top goalscorer this season with nine goals in 13 appearances. He scored twice against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium back in October to secure a draw that did much to keep former manager Alan Pardew in a job. Ok he is a handy player to have on the books but because of his age then there is no profit in him and if it was me then i would rather see a younger striker who we have at least a chance of turning into a profit making player. Cisse would get us goals but no profit or time enough to get the value out of him if he is going to cost us around £7m.
